Our Team

The Model Risk and Analytics (MRA) team, work at the intersection of Data Science, Statistical Modelling and Economics, using data to support the business through model building or providing actionable insights from the data. As part of the IFRS9 and Stress Testing team, you’ll help secure the foundations of our business decisions by providing qualitative and quantitative analysis across our model suites. 

As a Risk Modelling Manager, you will lead a small team of modellers and data scientists to develop these models. The team’s focus is on the development, validation, management and monitoring of our models and providing first class support to our stakeholders across Risk and Finance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading the scoping, design, development and implementation of risk models in line with regulatory and Bank standard.
  • Delivering optimised risk models for impairment calculation under different economic scenarios.
  • Supporting Senior Managers in managing the ongoing performance of the credit risk models in operation, identifying and implementing model enhancements.
  • Delivering comprehensive model documentation, presenting outputs to key stakeholders and steering models through governance processes.
  • Ensuring ongoing support, maintenance and monitoring of model performance, including annual reviews.
  • Taking ownership of selecting the most appropriate modelling methods and recommending refinements where necessary.
  • Providing technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to elevate team capabilities.
  • Promoting the use of risk models across the wider business and supporting informed decision making.

We need you to have

  • A deep understanding of model methodologies and credit risk frameworks, with hands-on experience in model design and development.
  • The proven ability to manage and develop high-performing technical teams.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of FCA regulations, governance frameworks, and compliance standards related to credit risk.
  • The ability to present complex technical outputs to both technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
  • Experience in delivering model risk summaries and recommendations.
  • A proven track record in delivering model developments projects within tight timelines.

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential

  • Experience steering models through internal and external governance processes
  • Proven ability to promote and embed risk models across wider business functions.

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting. If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre-employment checks – we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks
