Position Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Research Director of the Connectivity & Devices Group, the successful candidate will lead our research initiatives on Smart Living and Consumer Technologies, with a particular focus on AI and connectivity innovations that are transforming these sectors. Beyond simply tracking products, you'll explore how enabling technologies are fundamentally reshaping human-technology interactions, driving the evolution from device-centric implementations toward seamless, ambient intelligent smart-living environments. This position entails tight interactions with the industry to collect premium insights through interviews, surveys, and primary research, while creating high-value analysis spanning the entire value chain from component suppliers to solution providers to end-users. Research Focus Areas:

  1. Consumer devices and smart home ecosystems
  2. User experience and interface design trends
  3. Smart appliances and home automation systems
  4. Smart-home multimedia and entertainment systems
  5. Connectivity technologies shaping Smart Living and consumer interactions (e.g. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, UWB, VLC, Matter, and Thread)
  6. Wearable technologies and health monitoring solutions
  7. AI/Agentic AI for smart living applications
  8. Home care, personal companion, and other consumer robotics

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Author research reports, market forecasts, and analytical content addressing critical developments in Smart Living and Consumer Technologies
  2. Lead custom research projects, developing methodologies and delivering actionable insights
  3. Build and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders
  4. Provide strategic insights to clients on emerging trends in Smart Living and Consumer Technologies
  5. Contribute to service development based on client needs and industry evolution
  6. Represent ABI Research at industry events as a subject matter expert
  7. Deliver webinars, create thought leadership content, and engage with media and social platforms
  8. Support the sales team by providing customized client profiles and engagement histories and participating in strategic business meetings.
  9. Collaborate with internal teams including marketing and fellow analysts

Qualifications:

  1. Strong analytical capabilities with both quantitative and qualitative research skills
  2. Results-driven approach with proven ability to deliver high-quality deliverables on deadline
  3. Self-motivated professional capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  4. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  5. Strategic mindset with the ability to identify emerging trends and market opportunities through industry engagement
  6. Advanced proficiency in data analysis and Excel
  7. Experience in product management, market research, or industry analysis preferred
  8. Familiarity with smart living technologies, including connectivity standards, AI applications, CPEs, and smart home ecosystems is preferred but not required
  9. Background in analytics, business analysis, or technology preferred
