About The Role

ARAG UK, a market-leading insurance and legal services provider, has an exciting new opportunity for a Reporting and Analytics Engineer to join us in our Information Management Team, based in our spacious, modern Bristol offices.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for data, visualisations, and story-telling through data; ideally coming from a relevant professional background to support this passion.

Working as part of the Reporting & Analytics team, you will work in close collaboration with the Data Engineering team and business areas taking responsibility and accountability for collaborative design and build of end-user visualisations, reports, and ad-hoc analysis. It is key that you will promote transparent communication by sharing updates, insights, and hurdles, as well as working collaboratively to tap into shared expertise. You'll also ensure all required documentation is complete prior to release and all standards and best practices are adhered to.

You'll have good knowledge of the entire BI supply chain and its technical components and knowledge in several components such as SSRS, Power BI, TSQL, Data Warehousing, Data Sets (Tabular). You will possess experience in development lifecycle processes that utilize source control, ideally within the Azure DevOps environment.

Key responsibilities include:

- Use data modelling to understand the types of data the business need to analysis, relationships between them and the desired outcome.

- Gather detailed requirements and foster collaborative idea generation. Ensure BI solutions follow the principles of increase efficiency, enhance decision-making, and optimize operations. 

- Resolve queries and issues related to BI tools, services and data.

- An active stakeholder to ensure all BI processes including data refreshes, report generation run smoothly.

- Resolving failures or errors in scheduled jobs, investigating data discrepancies. Escalate, document and undergo deeper investigation required for the development of fixes.

We will offer support and development in order to progress your career within the Reporting & Analytics space, with in-situ training, as well as offering the opportunity to use external courses to gain and advance new skills.

About You

Technology agnostic being willing and able to adapt as we evolve our information estate and technology stack towards contemporary technologies which may comprise tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Cognos 11, Qlik, and cloud based services within Amazon AWS and/or Microsoft Azure Dev-ops; Adept at visualising information through good use of chart types best suited to the situation; Good problem solving and planning skills with a “can do” attitude; Able to work well as a team with good collaboration skills; A creative and lateral thinker; and Able to demonstrate good communication and relationship building skills
