About the role
ARO are seeking a Principal Infrastructure Engineer to join our Specialist Data Centre Services team in Liverpool.
This is a senior technical role where you will drive the innovation, design, implementation, and improvement of large-scale compute and storage platforms serving our health sector client base.
This is a hands-on role, combining design, implementation and 4th line support and problem resolution. It is an exciting role where you will have the freedom to lead on design and solutions.
What you’ll do
Designing Cloud Infrastructure:
- Capturing and developing client requirements, engaging internal and external assets, producing and presenting solution designs.
Implementation Lead:
- Working with the project team to ensure a successful implementation and client workload migration.
Technical Escalation:
- Provide technical point of escalation to the operations team, for complex incident and problem management.
Ensuring Security and Compliance:
- Delivered through proposed/implemented centralised controls.
Collaboration and Documentation:
- Working with the wider project and operations team to document centralised constructs, as well as any modules or other artefacts produced; creating documentation that can be understood by a variety of audiences.

- Self-motivator with energy and drive for continuous improvement and a focus on delivering results.
- Proven ability to influence technical decisions in a fast-moving commercial environment.
- A minimum of 8 years data engineering experience
Essential

- 5 years + experience in a Senior Infrastructure support / engineer role.
- Dell Power Edge Servers, PowerVault, PowerStore, PowerScale and PowerMAX
- Windows Server OS, Linux and Unix OS, VMware ESXi, and Active Directory
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and data protection.
Desirable
- IBM FlashSystem and QNAP desirable.
- Experience implementing security controls, compliance standards, and security monitoring in cloud environments.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements, DSPT desirable.
- Experience in an industry framework (ITIL, ISO 20000 / 27001 etc.)
