Principal Data Scientist - Remote Remote Working - UKHome-based with very occasional travel into the office £52,737 -£66,197 (National Framework) or £58,409- £71,869 (London Framework- if you are London office based or homebased and live within theboundary of the M25) Plus an additional allowance (paid as aseparate amount to salary) of up to £7000 for exceptionalcandidates. A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for aPrincipal Data Scientist with a strong background in Advanced AI(Artificial Intelligence) to lead, mentor and up skill a team ofData Scientists. Collaborating cross-functionally the role willfocus on the delivery of AI and Data Science programmes across theorganisation, driving Data Quality, Data Governance and BestPractice. Proven and demonstratable experience of Python coding andclouding computing is required coupled with fantastic communicationskills to problem solve and influence across all levels of theorganisation. This is a leadership role and proven experience ofleading a team to deliver is required. Key Responsibilities: ·Leadthe delivery AI and Data Science programme across the organisation·Lead and develop the Data Science Team. ·Champion Data Science andAdvanced Statistics, providing advice to colleagues on the deliveryof complex analytic work. ·Contribute to the development of the AIand Data science programme to drive high impact data scienceoutcomes. ·Experience of leading a team to deliver Data Sciencesolutions ·Promote excellence and innovation in data sciencemethods for measuring the quality of health and social careservices, learning from best practice (national/international),both internally and externally. ·Assess the effectiveness ofdifferent advanced statistical and data science modellingapproaches and advise data scientists on best tools and approachesto support organisational commitments. ·Manage competing demandsfor Data Science work within the Data & Insight unit, ensuringsufficient capacity to deliver while managing stakeholderexpectations. ·Build and drive relationships internally andexternally in order to deliver the AI and Data Science programme.·Lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary teams from across the unitto deliver outcomes. ·Assure that appropriate quality control andassurance is undertaken to ensure consistency, accuracy andrelevance of unit outputs. ·Stay abreast of internal and externaldevelopments in data, policy and structures of care delivery.·Promote a culture of respect and fairness and understand personalresponsibilities around delivering against diversity and inclusionstrategy. Skills and Experience ·Post-graduate qualification inrelevant subject or has equivalent professional experience.·In-depth understanding of a wide range of data science techniques,such as machine learning and natural language processing, and ableto apply them to a variety of analytic problems. ·Previousexperience in delivery of complex, advanced analytics and/or datascience solutions. ·Expert working knowledge of a range of datascience tools, especially Python, R, and SQL ·Experience of cloudcomputing - Cloud Computing - Azure, AWS or GCP ·Substantialexperience working in cloud-based tools like Databricks for MachineLearning, Azure Machine Learning and Azure AI Foundry as well asexperience helping others to use them. ·Experience of deliveringData Science models into production at scale, and collaborationwith architecture and engineering teams. ·Proven experience inleading and developing data science or complex analytics teams.·Strong persuading and influencing abilities. ·Proven experience inmanaging conflict and articulating coherent rationales for action.·Proven ability to anticipate problems, know how to prevent themand understand how problems fit into the larger picture. Can alsodevelop problem solving capabilities in others. ·Expert ability tomanage stakeholder expectations and facilitate discussions acrosshigh risk and complexity or under constrained timescales. ·Provenability to tailor communication in a compelling way to bothtechnical and non-technical audiences.
