We have joined forces with a leading UK fintech who help small businesses get the funds they need, when they need it.

They are looking for a Principal Data Engineer who will be responsible for the data platform. In this role you'll define data strategy, drive the evolution of data infrastructure, and ensure data systems enable impactful decision-making across the business.

What you'll be doing...

  • You will take ownership of the Snowflake platform to ensure it is a highly efficient and accessible resource for the business.
  • You will lead the development and optimisation of data pipelines using dbt, enabling faster and more reliable data flows.
  • You will collaborate with analysts and data scientists to design and maintain data models that enable more intuitive use for reporting, machine learning, and advanced analytics.
  • You will design and implement robust data governance frameworks, ensuring high data quality, compliance, and consistency.
  • You will recommend and lead the adoption of new tools and technologies that enhance data engineering capabilities.

What they are looking for...

  • Expertise with Snowflake and strong SQL skills.
  • Experience in designing and implementing scalable data architectures.
  • Skilled in building and managing real-time and batch data pipelines using dbt.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes for application orchestration and deployment.
  • Understanding of data science concepts and experience collaborating with data scientists to productionise machine learning models.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into effective technical solutions.
