The role

As a Principal Data Analytics Software Developer,you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is an exciting opportunity exists for a highly capable and driven data analyst with practical experience developing and operating innovative and ambitious analytic solutions for demanding and complex business requirements.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide a unique service for planning and analysing the UK submarine support programme. Specifically, you will be accountable for interfacing with senior customers to provide data analysis and business conclusion through operation of software models and application of expert business knowledge.

Establish and retain a high performing team of data analysts responsible for design, delivery, and operation of the analysis services to senior executive and business clients.

Define the overall vision and strategy for the analytic service, prioritising customer, and business requirements, and establishing development requirement to continually improve and enhance the service.

Collaboratively manage the use of cross team resource to deliver an integrated programme of data analysis tasking and software development, reprogramming workloads as required, in a fast-paced environment, and exposed to regular and unprogrammed customer demand changes.

Develop, maintain, and implement the team’s data analytics deliver processes, procedures, and guidance, including analytics output quality processes and standards.

Developing a detailed and deep business knowledge of the strategic programming for UK submarines to effectively develop analytics products and services for the customer that harnesses best practice, innovate and novel analytic concepts and customer outputs.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at our Babcock Technology Centre site in Bristol.

Essential experience of the Principal Data Analytics Software Developer

Career experience developing and operating Python software solutions to solve complex analytics problems.

Career experience successfully leading a team of data analysts and/or software developers to deliver a fast-paced programme of software development and analytics services.

Excellent logic and problem-solving skills and an ability to communicate complexity to others.

Evidence of excellent team working and actively harnessing wider diverse teams of external stakeholder to excel in delivering outputs.

Experience in Defence and submarines.

Qualifications for the Principal Data Analytics Software Developer

Relevant degree (Maths, IT, Software, Data Science, Physics, Computing etc.).

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
