The Role

We are seeking aPrincipal Business Intelligence Consultantwith a strong background in Microsoft Azure Data & AI solutions. You’ll play a pivotal role in leading the design, development, and delivery of advanced analytics and data engineering solutions, while also driving client engagement and contributing to the strategic growth of the consultancy.

You’ll be a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams, with the chance to build and lead a capability area from the ground up.


Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and deliver Microsoft Data & AI solutions aligned with client needs and business outcomes.
  • Lead presales activities, including technical discovery, solution design, demos, and proposal development for theirdata and analytics product.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, becoming a go-to technical expert.
  • Drive new client acquisition through network development and reputation building.
  • Oversee project delivery with hands-on solution architecture and technical leadership.
  • Support team development through mentoring, upskilling, and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to the profitability and scalability of the consultancy by driving utilisation, project success, and strategic account growth.
  • At least 35% to 50% of this role will be hands on technical work during the first 1-2 years of this role!


Professional Skills Required

  • Strong expertise in data engineering, modelling, and real-time data pipelines.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL, Databricks, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric.
  • Programming experience with Python, SQL, or R.
  • Deep understanding of cloud data architecture, governance, and performance optimisation.
  • Business domain knowledge across at least two industries (e.g. finance, retail, healthcare).
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering and emerging AI/ML frameworks is a plus.
  • Excellent client-facing communication, leadership, and delivery skills.


Leadership & Commercial Focus

  • Lead project delivery while ensuring high technical standards and client satisfaction.
  • Understand and contribute to consultancy performance metrics, including profitability and utilisation.
  • Take ownership of client acquisition, relationship management, and the growth of key accounts.
  • Support presales initiatives through product demonstrations, proof of concepts, and tailored proposals for the consultancy'sdata and analytics product.
