York/London/hybrid preferred, but willing to discuss flexible working from other locations. There will be an expectation to attend an Office location in person at least 2 days per week.
Permanent, Part Time (28 to 34 hours per week)
JRF works to speed up and support the transition to a more equitable and just future, free from poverty, in which people and planet can flourish. We are a UK-wide social change organisation, with a focus on all four nations. Our work is anchored around the reduction of poverty and household economic insecurity. We recognise that both poverty and insecurity are multi-dimensional, with material, social and emotional aspects, and we also consider economic, social and environmental justice to be inextricably linked.
About the role
Making sense of data on poverty is difficult, and it is often hard to turn that knowledge into meaningful action. That’s why at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, we have the Insight Infrastructure programme, a resource which helps to tackle injustice and inequality in the UK.
This programme aims to democratise access to high-quality data and evidence through open collaboration and innovation. By data, we mean both quantitative and qualitative information - from established datasets to new sources, experimental data, and lived experience of people.
As our Partnership Officer, you will support the Partnership Insight Manager on a wide range of tasks from external engagement (in person and online), social media (keeping in touch with external stakeholders and managing and running a focused LinkedIn group), putting together and sending out monthly newsletters about current work that the team are undertaking and more general project support on a number of diverse Insight Infrastructure projects that are commissioned to other organisations. The role will also involve attending externally facing events and networking with stakeholders.
About you
You will have a passion for the subject matter and JRF’s mission. You will not only bring experience with you, but also willing to learn.
With strong interpersonal skills and a high level of numeracy, verbal and written communication skills, you will be able to comfortably communicate and work collaboratively with colleagues across teams and external partners, and represent JRF at internal and external events, either with the Partnership Insight Manager or solo. Previous experience of being able to work collaboratively in this way is essential.
You will be tech-literate and excited about the power of data and technology to get us to a just future, ultimately improving the lives of those who are struggling the most with the personal, social, physical and financial aspects of inequality. You will have project support management experience, able to bring these skills with you from previous roles and be able to adapt these skills to different types of projects.
A self-starter, who comes up with ideas and ways of doing things, you must also be able to work independently and have evidence of this from previous roles with demonstrable ability to manage competing tasks and effectively prioritise workload.
How to apply
If you share our passion and this role sounds like you, then we’re looking forward to hearing from you.
Please submit your CV and supporting information via our online application platform.
The closing date for applications is Friday 18th July 2025.
Interviews will take place in w/c 28th July and w/c 4th August.
Additional Information
Applications are welcome from all, regardless of age, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race, sex, sexual orientation, trans status or socioeconomic background.
We positively encourage applications from people from marginalised backgrounds, including but not limited to those with experience of living in poverty.
We are committed to being an anti-racist organisation and operate an anonymised recruitment process so that bias is eliminated from the shortlisting process.
In support of our approach to flexible working, we are happy to receive applications from those seeking full-time employment, as well as those who may want to share the role on a part-time basis. When making your application, please state whether you want to be considered for either full or part-time work and, if part-time, the number of hours per week you would be looking for.
At JRF we’re at our best when we’re continually building on trust, showing we care and making a difference – and hope others will do the same. So, for those roles which allow it, we’re developing a more blended approach to how and where you work. This means you can expect to work flexibly between the office and home (with an expectation of two days a week in your home office).
We are a Disability Confident Employer. This means that we are committed to the recruitment, progression and retention of disabled individuals. We shall also offer interviews to disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the job. If you have a disability, please tell us if you would like to be considered for an interview under the Disability Confident Scheme.
If you have any additional needs and need reasonable adjustments to be made to the interview process, please let us know

Data Science Jobs Skills Radar 2026: Emerging Tools, Languages & Platforms to Learn Now

The UK’s data science job market is evolving fast—from forecasting models and AI assistants to real-time decision systems. In 2026, data scientists aren’t just expected to build models—they’re responsible for shaping insights that fuel everything from patient care to predictive banking. Welcome to the Data Science Jobs Skills Radar 2026—your essential annual guide to the languages, tools, and platforms driving demand across the UK. Whether you’re entering the job market or reskilling mid-career, this roadmap helps you prioritise the skills that matter most right now.

How to Find Hidden Data Science Jobs in the UK Using Professional Bodies like the RSS, BCS & More

The data science job market in the UK is thriving—but also increasingly competitive. As organisations in finance, healthcare, retail, government, and tech accelerate digital transformation, the demand for data talent has soared. Yet many of the best data science jobs are never posted publicly. They’re shared behind closed doors—within professional networks, at invite-only events, or through member-only mailing lists and specialist interest groups. These “hidden” roles are often filled through referrals, collaborations, or direct outreach to trusted experts. In this guide, we’ll show you how to unlock these hidden opportunities by engaging with key UK professional bodies such as the Royal Statistical Society (RSS), BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT), and Turing Society, plus communities like PyData and AI UK. You’ll learn how to use directories, CPD events, and networks to move beyond job boards—and into roles where you’re approached, not just applying.

How to Get a Better Data Science Job After a Lay-Off or Redundancy

Redundancy can be tough to face, especially in a competitive field like data science. But it’s important to know: your experience, analytical thinking, and modelling skills are still in demand. Across sectors like healthcare, finance, e-commerce, government and AI startups, UK employers continue to seek data scientists who can deliver value through insight, prediction, and automation. This guide will walk you through how to bounce back from redundancy with purpose and clarity—whether you're a data analyst looking to step up, a mid-level data scientist, or a machine learning specialist seeking a better-aligned opportunity.
