Join BAESystems as an experienced Machine Learning (ML) Engineer. As partof our AI team, you will be working with our National SecurityCustomers to understand their business challenges and identifywhere AI/ML-based solutions can add value. You will lead onprototype development and be responsible for designing,implementing, and deploying AI solutions. This cross-functionalrole requires a strong foundation in software engineering,statistics, and AI/ML concepts. Due to the fast-paced change inAI/ML, you are expected to be aware of the latest advancements inAI and ML technologies, ensuring that solutions are both innovativeand effective. You’ll work as part of an empowered,multi-disciplinary AI team whose purpose is to develop common AIpropositions that will benefit a range of our customers. Workingalongside a Data Scientist, AI Strategy Lead, and DeliveryManagement you will focus on engineering activities within our AIStrategy which is focused on: 1. You will work closely with data scientists to understanddata requirements, clean and organize data, and build efficient,scalable capabilities. Our unique customers have interesting,complex data. You will conduct practical AI experiments to testtechnical assumptions and assess technology maturity to meet userneeds. As an engineering expert in AI/ML you’ll be expected todevelop, test, and validate applications using machine learningmodels, demonstrating how they can mature from prototype toproduct. You will provide support to other early adopterengineering teams attempting to develop and integrate their ownmachine learning solutions. About you Youwill have experience in many of the following: 1. Prototypingapplications using machine learning (ML) models to test feasibilityand impact. 2. Engineering and implementing ML-based solutions,with proven ability to own the end-to-end process and lifecycle ofML systems. 3. Deploying models and handling technical aspects ofmaking models operational to meet user needs. 4. Integrating modelswithin applications, and incorporating them into wider systems. 5.Monitoring model performance through regular evaluation of deployedmodels, identifying performance gaps and opportunities foroptimization. 6. Researching techniques by continuously exploringthe latest ML and AI advancements to identify methods that canenhance current systems. 7. Adhering to policy and ethical AIstandards, ensuring machine learning practices comply withcompliance processes and guidelines. 8. Providing technicalguidance in the implementation and integration of machine learningto other cross-functional teams. 9. Programming in one or more ofPython, Java, .Net, JavaScript, C++. 10. Using MLOps tools andframeworks. 11. Source controlling your code with Version ControlSystems, for example Git, Mercurial, Perforce. 12. Utilizingcontainerization technologies e.g. Docker, Kubernetes. It would begreat if you also had experience in some of these, but if not we’llhelp you with them: 1. Optimizing models from data scientists byworking closely with them to refine, optimize, and implement modelsbased on prototypes. 2. Defining and improving MLOps processes bycreating and refining the model development and deployment strategyfor better efficiency and results. 3. Ensuring the quality andaccessibility of data used for machine learning projects isappropriate, collaborating with data engineers as necessary. 4.Performing data analysis to enable machine learning engineeringtasks, such as ethics/bias assessments or exploratory data analysisto inform model development/deployment pattern choice. 5.Maintaining comprehensive documentation of model development,including methodologies, performance evaluations, and deploymentdetails. 6. Developing and running solutions in Cloud-basedenvironments & Cloud ML Services e.g. AWS, MS Azure. 7.Integrating with relational, document, search and graph databasesystems. 8. Utilizing CI/CD tools, such as Bamboo, Jenkins,TeamCity, Bitbucket, in order to streamline the delivery of newfeatures and fixes. Security Clearance is required for thisvacancy.
