Thames Water is seeking a Metering Data Scientist to join our Smart Metering Operations Centre (SMOC) in an exciting new role. You’ll have the opportunity to work with data from over a million smart meters monitoring, supporting and creating processes to ensure accuracy, integrity, security and accessibility of data in upstream and downstream applications integrated to the Thames Water Meter data management system (MDMS).

What you’ll be doing as a Metering Data Scientist
As a Metering Data Scientist at Thames Water, you'll play a crucial role in the SMOC Meter Data Strategy and Insights team. Ensuring that the smart metering programme data processes and pipelines are working efficiently and accurately. Providing support to the SMOC and Digital IT teams.

Key Responsibilities
Pipeline Management – Create and maintain robust data pipelines for reliable reporting.
Data Analysis & Modelling – Identify trends, forecast water demand, and improve business processes. To align the metering programmes with the wider business priorities.
Data Visualisation – Present insights clearly for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaboration – Work with analysts and stakeholders to translate business needs into action.
Operability – Improving operational efficiency which will oversee end to end asset lifecycle.As a Metering Data Scientist, you'll be at the heart of improving operational efficiency, ensuring the reliability of our Meter reporting systems, and driving continuous improvements in how Thames Water manages the metering data.
Base Location: Hybrid – Langley Bus Park -Slough, Berks
Hours: 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

What you should bring to the role
We’re looking for a curious and analytical problem solver who thrives on working with data/interfaces and delivering impactful insights. To succeed as a Metering Data Scientist, you’ll need:

Essential Skills:
Strong data analytics and reporting experience, handling large datasets.
Keen attention to data quality and accuracy.
Ability to collaborate effectively and solve complex problems.
Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn.Technical Skills:

Degree or equivalent experience in data science, analytics, or a related field.
Proven experience of creating and maintaining data pipelines.
Experience of Advanced Excel, Azure Databricks, Advanced SQL, working knowledge of PowerBI, and exposure to GIS.
GDPR awareness and compliance.Desirable:

Understanding and exposure to databases, interfaces, business systems and work force management solutions
Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including DevOps.What’s in it for you?
