Role: Mechanical Sustainment Engineer

Location: Cheltenham

Duration: 12 months

Rate: Up to £75 per hour (Umbrella only)

Key Activities:

In this role you will be responsible for maintaining design configuration, verifying and qualifying changes. Working across numerous product platforms you will support cost out initiatives, support product return investigations and maintain product performance and yield using failure reporting and corrective action system, to constantly monitor and increase performance of in service and production systems. Perform Mechanical design changes via CAD, PLM and PDM systems, ensuring the appropriate level of data quality.
Perform Mechanical Analysis to determine the suitability of proposed changes, sometimes validating via Qualification test.
Creation of technical reports to substantiate and justify design changes and document root cause.
Support investigations into technical issues resulting from production and in-service failures/issues.
Support root cause analysis and corrective action through the use of established problem-solving tools (e.g. 8D, Apollo, Fault Tree Analysis)
Support process improvement and material cost reduction initiativesQualifications / Requirements

Qualification to Degree level in a Mechanical discipline, or equivalent experience.
Basic experience with CAD systems.
Ability to consider designing for manufacture for Mechanical related manufacturing processes.
Good document management and technical writing skills.
Multifunctional & Multi cultural Team Working.
Demonstrated problem solving skills
