Linux Systems Engineer - London - Tier 1 Investment Banking – Up to £75,000 – Up to 20% Bonus

Overview:
Our Client, a leading investment bank seeks a Linux Systems Engineer to manage and optimise its global infrastructure. This role involves providing 24/7 support, ensuring system availability and security, delivering projects, and implementing automation solutions to improve efficiency and performance.

Role & Responsibilities:

Manage and maintain Linux/Unix systems to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
Deliver infrastructure projects, upgrades, and enhancements within budget and timeline constraints.
Automate system administration tasks using Ansible, AWX, and scripting (Python, Perl, Bash).
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive solutions.
Ensure data integrity through backup management, disaster recovery planning, and capacity forecasting.
Provide technical support to internal teams and act as a subject matter expert on Linux/Unix environments.
Implement security updates and ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
Participate in on-call and weekend work rotations to support business-critical systems. 
Essential Skills & Experience:

Expertise in Red Hat, Solaris, and system tuning.
Strong knowledge of Ansible, AWX, REST API integration, and scripting (Python, Perl, Bash).
Experience with networking, storage, security hardening, and high-availability configurations.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git version control, and infrastructure automation.
Knowledge of security frameworks, compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, SOX), and best practices.
