We’re looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking Lead Engineer to join our CTO, Tom, as the first hire into our engineering team and to be instrumental in defining our data and insights platform, our web apps, our team, and the way we work. You will be hands-on both in the code and at the whiteboard, playing a pivotal role in both our architectural design and in our software delivery.

You will:

• Take ownership of our platform’s technical architecture.
• Take direct responsibility for solving our most complex challenges across our stack.
• Help to define the way we work, the tools we use, and how we communicate.
• Help to design the team’s structure and roles and attract the people we need to grow it - people you will help to mentor and inspire.

Experience:

• You have 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• You have an expert-level understanding of AWS, Typescript, and React.
• You are a full-stack engineer taking end-to-end responsibility for projects and supporting infrastructure and DevEx.
• Bonus:You’re an accomplished data engineer, fluent in Python or similar, who has designed and built data ETL pipelines and worked with large-scale data sets.
• Bonus:You have worked with advanced Data Science teams to develop new insights and push research into new and exciting markets.
• Bonus:Familiarity with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and experience deploying at scale.
• Bonus:You have experience working on a GIS/mapping product.
• Bonus:You’ve worked at an early-stage tech startup.
