About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of research at Cleo. You’ll join one of our product teams, working cross-functionally to help develop Cleo into a truly hyper-personalized financial coach. Your work will focus on deeply understanding our users — uncovering what drives them, what they need, and how we can build products that genuinely empower them.

You'll be part of our Design Guild, collaborating closely with Content Designers, Product Designers, and other User Researchers. We're building a world-class research function at Cleo, and you’ll play a key role in shaping what that looks like — from day-to-day practice to long-term impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the design and execution of market research projects using advanced quantitative techniques such as conjoint analysis, experimental design, and segmentation to uncover actionable insights on product preferences, user needs, and market opportunities
  • Conducting market sizing, pricing research, and new market opportunity assessments to support expansion strategy and go-to-market planning
  • Working cross-functionally with product, design, growth, and marketing teams to frame learning objectives, develop survey instruments, and deliver insights that drive roadmap, positioning, and commercial decisions
  • Contributing to pricing strategy through user value perception studies, elasticity testing, and packaging experiments
  • Presenting findings to stakeholders in a clear, structured, and influential way, translating complexity into clarity and action

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience with advanced quantitative market research methods such as choice-based conjoint, max diff, cluster/segmentation analysis, and experimental design
  • Ability to frame business problems and translate them into clear research hypotheses
  • Comfort designing and interpreting survey-based studies with advanced logic, sampling, and statistical reliability
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively, from framing the question to delivering the insight
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders with evidence-based recommendations

If you have led high-level analyses that synthesise primary and secondary data (e.g. internal product data, third-party benchmarks, analyst reports) to uncover macro trends, competitive dynamics, and evolving consumer behaviours - that would be an awesome bonus!

What do you get for all your hard work?

  • A competitive compensation package (base + equity) with bi-annual reviews, aligned to our quarterly OKR planning cycles. You can view our public progression framework and salary bandings here: https://cleo-ai.progressionapp.com/
  • Work at one of the fastest-growing tech startups, backed by top VC firms, Balderton & EQT Ventures
  • A clear progression plan. We want you to keep growing. That means trying new things, leading others, challenging the status quo and owning your impact. Always with our complete support.
  • Flexibility. We can’t fight for the world’s financial health if we’re not healthy ourselves. We work with everyone to make sure they have the balance they need to do their best work
  • Work where you work best. We’re a globally distributed team. If you live in London we have a hybrid approach, we’d love you to spend one day a week or more in our beautiful office. If you’re outside of London, we’ll encourage you to spend a couple of days with us a few times per year. And we’ll cover your travel costs, naturally.

  • Company-wide performance reviews every 6 months
  • Generous pay increases for high-performing team members
  • Equity top-ups for team members getting promoted

Why Data Science Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Data science once meant advanced statistics, machine learning models and coding in Python or R. In the UK today, it has become one of the most in-demand professions across sectors — from healthcare to finance, retail to government. But as the field matures, employers now expect more than technical modelling skills. Modern data science is multidisciplinary. It requires not just coding and algorithms, but also legal knowledge, ethical reasoning, psychological insight, linguistic clarity and human-centred design. Data scientists are expected to interpret, communicate and apply data responsibly, with awareness of law, human behaviour and accessibility. In this article, we’ll explore why data science careers in the UK are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these five disciplines intersect with data science, and what job-seekers & employers need to know to succeed in this transformed field.

Data Science Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Data Science Department

Data science is one of the most in-demand, dynamic, and multidisciplinary areas in the UK tech and business landscape. Organisations from finance, retail, health, government, and beyond are using data to drive decisions, automate processes, personalise services, predict trends, detect fraud, and more. To do that well, companies don’t just need good data scientists; they need teams with clearly defined roles, responsibilities, workflows, collaboration, and governance. If you're aiming for a role in data science or recruiting for one, understanding the structure of a data science department—and who does what—can make all the difference. This article breaks down the key roles, how they interact across the lifecycle of a data science project, what skills and qualifications are typical in the UK, expected salary ranges, challenges, trends, and how to build or grow an effective team.
