As our next Lead Data Architect, you’ll play a leading role in shaping the future state of data management across the organisation. You’ll set standards, processes, design/ build end-to-end data architecture designs and data models to support the business transformation across the Society.

YBS is investing in its data capabilities and you will be part of the team that seeks to embed these within the organisation and build out modern, scalable and governed data platforms. You’ll join a brilliant and diverse team of Data Architects, Analysts, Designers and BI colleagues in our Leeds based Information Architecture and Design function. This is a hybrid role; with remote working and some onsite presence in our central Leeds office, usually once a week.

About the role

You will-

  • Manage and lead a team of data architects within the architecture function
  • Be accountable for all Data Architecture aspects of products/services within the Data Technology Solutions, through effective leadership and shared ownership of technology (front to back).
  • Maintain the Architecture roadmaps to bring to life in conjunction with protecting optimal performance across the existing landscape, influencing legacy risk and technical debt decisions.
  • Be accountable for the research and development of technology, ensuring the Group is in line with Risk Appetite, Road Maps, and Industry and Regulatory standards, supporting the solutions delivery teams investigate and resolve technical complexities and issues.
  • Provide thought leadership and direction on the YBS approach to Architecture. Proactively asses and undertake research activities, including Proof of Concept, extending personal and the teams' knowledge liaising with 3rd parties as required.

About you

Skills required-

  • Broad knowledge and experience of complex technical Data landscapes (Oracle ODI/ODS, BODS, SAS, SAP, Denodo), the delivery methodologies and a variety of software languages and environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to manage and resolve risk and competing/conflicting priorities.
  • Experience with integration platforms, applying structured techniques and an understanding of DevOps and Infrastructure dependency management.
  • Experience in delivering Agile changes into a data platform.
  • Deep knowledge in Infrastructure and/or Software Applications, acting as specialist with the Architecture peer group with ability to draw on expertise across front to back platforms.
  • Knowledge of industry standard design patterns and multi-tier architecture, including SOA, Cloud, Virtualisation and Security.
