About the Role

I am recruiting for an experienced and driven Head of Data Engineering to lead a large, dynamic team. You will play a critical role in overseeing the operational stability of their legacy data warehouses while driving their strategic migration to GCP. This is a high-impact position where you will shape the future of their data infrastructure and ensure they meet the evolving demands of their business and regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of 6-8 direct reports, overseeing a large data engineering team composed primarily of a scalable offshore third-party resource.
• Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of existing data warehouses, maintaining high availability and performance.
• Spearhead the migration of data and applications to GCP, leveraging cloud-native technologies to modernize their data infrastructure.
• Collaborate closely with Data Governance and Management teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR).
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the data engineering function, fostering a culture of excellence.
• Manage budgets and vendor relationships, optimizing costs and ensuring value delivery.

What you need:

• Proven experience leading large data engineering teams in the financial services industry.
• Deep understanding of data warehousing principles, ETL processes, and data modeling techniques.
• Experience with GCP and associate google tech stack tooling
• Strong knowledge of data governance and data management best practices, with an understanding of relevant regulations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
