Data Scientist

Our client is seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Assistant to join their ICT team on an 8-month Fixed Term Contract, based in Rochester, Kent.

The role:
• Support the ICT DBA & BI Administrator to maintain and develop business intelligence solutions that help the organisation make informed decisions based on data.
• Write SQL queries (SELECT statements) to retrieve data, create reports, and manipulate large datasets to solve business problems.
• Assist in the development of reports and dashboards using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Excel.
• Work closely with the Business Improvement team to understand reporting requirements and deliver accurate and meaningful data insights.
• Maintain existing BI systems and support the implementation of enhancements or new reporting features.
• Ensure documentation is kept up to date and log/report support requests via the internal helpdesk system.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by helping identify ways data can improve business processes or service delivery.

Desirable Experience / Skills:
• Knowledge of SQL – comfortable writing queries, stored procedures, and views.
• Experience using Microsoft SQL Server tools such as SSRS and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
• Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables or Power Pivot.
• Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or Analysis Services (SSAS) is a plus.
• Interest in data, reporting, or analytics and a desire to develop technical skills further.
• Analytical mindset with good attention to detail.
• Experience or interest in scripting or coding (e.g. Python) is advantageous.
• Understanding of how data can be used to support and improve business processes.
