What is Sylvera anyway?

Sylvera provides trusted ratings, tools and data for carbon credits and CDR. Our mission is to incentivize investment in real climate action.

Purchasing carbon credits and CDR through the carbon markets is one of the most established and scalable ways to channel finance to effective climate solutions and work toward societal net zero. Unfortunately, the carbon markets were plagued with mistrust and a lack of effectiveness since they’ve emerged – until Sylvera.

To help organizations ensure they're making the most effective investments, Sylvera provides trusted ratings, tools and data for carbon credits and CDR. Our data and software independently and accurately validate the impact of carbon projects that capture, remove, or avoid emission whether they are up and running, or in development. Our data and tools allow users to optimize both the climate and economic performance of projects as well as understand the past and future of the market. With Sylvera businesses, governments and developers can confidently invest in, benchmark, deliver, and report real climate impact.

Our team is made up of leading minds in climate change from scientists to policy, finance, and carbon market experts. We work in partnership with scientific organizations, universities, governments, and think tanks to develop and implement rigorous and holistic project assessment methodologies, leveraging the latest technology. We also partner with actors and institutions across the whole market to make data higher quality, more standard and more accessible. Founded in 2020, Sylvera has 130+ employees globally with offices in London, New York, Belgrade, and Singapore. We’ve raised over $96 million from leading investors like Fidelity, Balderton Capital, Index Ventures, and Insight Partners to date.

What will I be doing?

Sylvera’s geospatial capabilities are key to our current and future differentiation in carbon and adjacent markets. We deploy them to empower internal customers as well as serving external users directly. Starting with Sylvera’s world-leading proprietary biomass data we build data products, tools, and visualizations to unlock insights about carbon projects & beyond. An example of our day-to-day is monitoring deforestation, forest conservation, or reforestation by combining satellite imagery and our proprietary ground truth data collected via remote sensing.

Reporting to our VP Product, you will join at a critical juncture of our growth, ensuring we serve emerging external and internal needs leveraging our leading edge science, data and engineering competencies.

You will be expected to:

  • Distill external and internal use cases and user pain points, assess our right to win, make build or buy decisions, ruthlessly prioritize and drive delivery of MVPs with measurable user and business impact.
  • Set ambitious goals to yourself and the team and craft sufficiently detailed plans to reach them.
  • Be the voice of the customer in shaping our science and data strategy to further differentiate our offering in the market.
  • Align and inspire the engineering and science geospatial teams around realizing the impact of their work in real-world settings.
  • Collaborate across the organization, in particular within Product, but also with Commercial and Marketing teams.

You will be joining an experienced team, which has significant engineering capacity at its disposal. Setting priorities and executing on them is thus of paramount importance to the company’s success.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is pragmatic, solutions-oriented and has a bias for action, comfortably dealing with change and adept at driving iterative improvements at speed.
  • Has at least 5 years’ worth of Product Management experience.
  • Knows geospatial data & products, e.g. familiar with building on or integrating raster data.
  • Has a track record of building customer-facing products and achieving customer-centric outcomes.
  • Comes with B2B Product experience, startup / scale-up experience is a plus.
  • Is commercially and externally minded - going a week without engaging directly with a user or prospect would be rare (while of course leveraging scalable feedback systems).
  • Cares deeply about the climate and ecosystems of the earth.

We’d like someone highly ambitious, motivated and eager to propel their career forward. We prioritize grit, positivity, and the willingness to get stuck in, and encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't exactly match this job description.
