Head of Data Overview
This is an entirely new role at this Housing Association focused around modernising its approach and utilisation of data.
As Head of Data, you will play a key role in transforming data capabilities and lead on the development and implementation of data tools. The business has the ‘scaffolding’ of data technology in place, but it is not linked to the overall platform. Your role will be to help link the data lake, to business stakeholders, by building data products that allow the data to be accessed and used to inform business decisions. You will allow for the utilisation of data as a key business tool to drive strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
In short, the business has the technology and data in place, and they now need someone to create meaningful products for stakeholders so they can access and use the data. You’ll work with business functions to identify what they want to see and what they want data to do, then make that happen.
Your success will be built on providing well-designed data products to enable clear actionable insights by utilising large amounts of data around customers and properties.
Your key remit as Head of Data will be to:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data analytics strategy using systems and data architecture, by leveraging innovation and AI.
- Be a product owner for data, responsible for defining and managing the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for reporting and analytics products.
- Play a key role in defining the future requirements for data architecture and platforms.
- Use advanced data analytics methods to identify innovative solutions that will be first of their kind in the housing sector.
This is therefore an unparalleled opportunity to modernise data in a brand-new role at a large business. You’ll build your own data product function and manage a team of Data Engineers and Data Analysts. Your role will have a direct impact on improving this housing associations service delivery, to better the lives of thousands of people.
What will you bring to the Head of Data role?
You will be an excellent candidate if you can demonstrate the following:
- Experience of managing or owning a data platform and delivering insights through that platform.
- Strong experience of delivering insights and reporting, as well as understanding what that means from engineering perspective.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within data analytics in a similar size business (ideally over 500 employees with a matrix structure, or some excellent experience of working across all areas at a smaller group).
- Proven ability in owning and managing data platforms, such as data lakes, Azure etc.
- Demonstrable experience of leading major data-related projects.
- Excellent communication skills with a proven record of preparing and delivering persuasive, high quality, written and verbal reports.
Salary and job location
The salary on offer is £95,000 with some flexibility and excellent benefits. You will work hybrid with a day or two a week at their office in London.
