Summary:


The Head of Business Intelligence and FP&A will be a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial planning, analysis, and data-driven decision-making across the company. This role will play a critical part in aligning business strategy with operational execution, providing actionable insights through advanced analytics, and managing the organisation's financial performance.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and an ability to collaborate across departments. You will lead a team of analysts, manage forecasting processes, improve data reporting frameworks, and ensure that the company achieves its financial and strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities:


Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

  • Lead the development of annual budgets, long-range financial plans, and quarterly forecasts in collaboration with department heads and senior leadership.
  • Monitor financial performance by analysing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimising the impact of variances.
  • Present regular financial reports and metrics to the Executive team and Board of Directors to provide insight into company performance.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification, and revenue/expense analysis.
  • Support M&A due diligence, financial modelling, and post-acquisition integration.

Business Intelligence (BI):

  • Build and manage the Business Intelligence function, utilising data analytics and reporting tools to drive business decision-making.
  • Develop data governance and data quality frameworks to ensure reliable and accurate reporting.
  • Identify key business trends and operational insights by creating dashboards and reports for various stakeholders (C-suite, department heads, etc.).
  • Partner with IT and data engineering teams to improve data architecture, integration, and systems for enhanced data accessibility.
  • Oversee the creation of predictive models to support forecasting and scenario analysis.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the C-suite and senior management, providing financial and operational insights that drive strategic business decisions.
  • Lead a team of FP&A and BI professionals, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Product, etc.) to understand business needs and translate them into data-driven strategies.
  • Champion a culture of data literacy across the organisation, encouraging data-driven decision-making at all levels.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate and implement financial planning software, BI tools, and other analytical systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Drive continuous improvement in all FP&A and BI processes, including automating manual processes, improving data accuracy, and delivering actionable insights faster.
  • Keep up to date with industry best practices and trends in BI and FP&A, recommending new approaches where applicable.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field (MBA or CFA preferred).
  • Proven track record of building out new BI and FP&A functions.
  • The candidate must have strong experience working in the Professional Services industry with additional experience in technology, SaaS, or consumer goods being a plus.
  • Progressive experience in FP&A, Business Intelligence, Corporate Strategy, or a related field.
  • Strong experience leading teams, ideally with a focus on both FP&A and Business Intelligence functions.

Extensive knowledge of financial modelling, forecasting techniques, and data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Excel).



Technical Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of financial planning software and BI tools (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, Hyperion, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Understanding of database structures and querying methods, including proficiency in SQL and other data analysis languages.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and their role in financial management (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Netsuite).


Leadership & Soft Skills:

  • Strategic thinker with excellent business acumen and financial insight.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial and analytical information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Highly collaborative, with the ability to influence and partner effectively with executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
