About the Role
As the Group Financial Director, you will be a key strategic leader within the organisation, responsible for overseeing financial planning, business performance, and risk management. You will work closely with the Executive Team to align financial strategies with operational and commercial objectives, ensuring finance acts as a proactive enabler of growth and efficiency. Leading a team across Controlling, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Accounting, and Procurement, you will play a critical role in cost optimisation, profitability enhancement, and expansion initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a trusted business partner to the executive team, providing financial insights to drive decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Leading financial strategy, ensuring alignment with business growth and expansion plans.
  • Overseeing forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning to support commercial growth.
  • Implementing robust financial processes to enhance operational efficiency and cash flow management.
  • Driving governance, risk management, and compliance across the organisation.
  • Leading the implementation of technology-driven financial solutions (e.g., ERP, automation, data analytics tools).
  • Providing hands-on leadership to the finance function, fostering a high-performance culture.
    Preferred Skills and Experience
    To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Waste processing or recycling experience.
  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • 15+ years of professional experience, with a proven track record of leading financial functions.
  • Strong hands-on leadership skills with the ability to scale finance operations in a growing business.
  • Experience with IFRS (UK & NL GAAP knowledge is a plus).
  • Professional accreditation such as CIMA, CGMA, CPA, or ACA preferred.
  • Experience with Big 4 accounting firms is advantageous.
  • Strong financial governance, risk management, and compliance expertise.
  • Fluent English skills (Dutch is a plus).
