The mission of the Data Engineering, Analytics and Innovation team is to own, build and develop the tools, best practices, and datasets needed to drive data-driven insights and efficiencies across the business.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to learn on the job, be adaptable in a dynamic work environment, and manage and communicate priorities effectively. This is a truly varied, hands-on role requiring the successful candidate to be comfortable switching from individual project work, to driving discussions and communication with key stakeholders to supporting the immediate and wider team as necessary.

The objectives of the role include:

Establishing a strong in-person working relationships and presence with key internal and external stakeholders and business partners. Hands-on Data Product Ownership: you will be responsible in helping us define, design, drive and implement solutions for the business. Build common agnostic libraries and data patterns across markets. This is a cross-asset role covering Global Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income Markets as well as Commodities. Own, support and contribute to the planning, communication, design, and implementation of key business deliverables. Conduct critical analysis of current system and workflows using the results to draw conclusions and make recommendations. Manage, support, and improve critical data pipelines and reporting solutions directly supporting the business lines. Contribute and expand our data and quant framework; including developing tools to load, process, clean, query, analyse and visualise data. Evolve our reporting and forecasting tools and dashboards as required by the business and management. Work closely with and interact with the front office sales and trading desks, to understand business requirements. Perform data profiling using TD tooling and ad-hoc system query languages to validate data analysis. Collaborate across business lines, functional partners (IT, Risk, Operations), external vendors as well as the business SME. Ensure data governance and security guidelines are adhered to. Demonstrate and promote best practices; seek to continually evolve and improve our workflows, tooling, and development practices and environment. Simplify and streamline existing workflows and processes through tooling, automation and optimization.

Projects

Own and iteratively develop our critical business data pipelines and infrastructure. Evolve and improve our reporting, dashboarding and analytics tool suite. Develop and support our strategic internal market data and analytics Python libraries and APIs. Build out our client value framework. Implement new targeted dashboards to drive business insights and decision making.

Role Requirements

Key Qualifications / Skills / Experience

Minimum 3 years' experience working in a relevant engineering, statistical or financial role Strong Python, modern programming language experience Working knowledge of Pandas and Numpy Effective SQL and RDBMS knowledge Proficiency working with and cleaning data, including data-scraping, and dealing with streaming and time series data sets. Visualisation libraries (plotly, seaborn, matplotlib), dashboarding using Plotly Dash or Shiny Understanding of test-driven development, tools, and practices Experience with data modelling, schema design and evolution Experience coding ETL pipelines and orchestration workflows Experience in analysis and design patterns and soft engineering best practices Practitioner of agile methodologies, continuous integration and delivery tools and practices Understanding of Big Data principles, design, and techniques Linux and shell-scripting experience Passion for engineering, intuitive, visual design and building great user experiences

Desirable Skills / Experience

Prior project experience in Client Analysis, Transaction Cost Analysis, Market Data Analysis, PnL reporting or Marketing Analysis a plus Knowledge of capital markets, preferably in eTrading else similar financial, operational, or regulatory data lifecycles and system workflows Experience in framework, library and API design Understanding of current and emerging technology and trends in the data and analytics space DevOp tools and techniques Business Intelligence tools Tick database knowledge KDB, OneTick Knowledge of eTrading, books of record vendor system object model i.e. ION, Murex, Broadway NoSQL, OLAP, OLTP database JavaScript, web development Cloud experience
