ALink Recruitment are working with an engienering consultancy, looking for a Fire Engineer to work on rail projects. The role will involve conducting detailed fire surveys assessments, capturing accurate fire asset data, and producing high quality fire survey reports. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with project teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of fire assets surveys in compliance with guidelines, and the effective management of identified risks.

You will be carrying out non-intrusive validation surveys of existing fire assets across Railway station and depot environments. The role will require you to both verify existing fire drawings, in addition to obtaining sufficient information to develop new fire compliance plans. A working knowledge of station and depot environments is preferred.

  • Conduct fire inspections of various building types including stations and depots.

  • Perform inspections to identify and document fire assets, defects and areas requiring further investigation.

  • Produced detailed survey reports to share with CAD team to create new drawings including recommendations for remedial actions.

  • Create drawing mark ups to be shared with the CAD team.

  • Ensure inspections are carried out in compliance with the scope of works and other relevant guidelines.

  • Verify data integrity by adhering to established quality assurance practices.

  • Work closely with the project team including project managers, quality assurance managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of surveys and reporting on a weekly basis.

  • Contribute to periodic dashboards summarising progress, findings, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Immediately report any identified defects posing safety, security, or operational risks through appropriate channels and processes.

  • Provide guidance and coordination to survey teams where required.

  • Provide survey support and work in a collaborative manner with other surveyors as necessary.

  • Check and validate fire compliance drawings.

    You will have:

  • Experience conducting fire safety assessment to evaluate existing buildings to identify potential fire hazards and recommend necessary safety improvements.

  • Have an understanding of designing and implementing fire safety measures in buildings, including sprinkler systems, evacuation routes, and fire alarm systems.

  • Capability of conducting risk assessments of current assets to identify potential fire hazards and advise on construction standards to minimise fire spread.

  • Ability to identify suitable compartmentation and separation requirements based upon fire risks against relevant standards.

  • Able to design safe evacuation routes and procedures for building occupants.

  • Understanding of suitable building material selection based on relevant codes.

  • Experience conducting regular inspections of fire protection systems in existing buildings to ensure functionality.

  • Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors and building owners to integrate fire safety measures into designs.

    Essential Criteria:

  • 5+ years Fire Engineering or other relevant experience.

  • Proven experience in fire engineering preferably with a focus on data collection in complex environments like transport or infrastructure.

  • Proficient in conducting fire asset and validation surveys.

  • Able to check and verify Fire Compliance Plans and Building Layout Drawings.

  • Computer literate and familiarity with MS Office.

  • Strong analytical and reporting abilities.

  • Good communication skills for liaising with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

    Desirable Criteria:

  • Chartered Fire Engineer / Relevant Fire Safety Certifications.

  • Familiarity with working in a regulated environment such as the London Underground or other operational networks.

  • Experience with surveying cameras, for example Matterport
