Trilateral Research is recruiting for aFinancial Controllerto join ourCorporate Financeteam in the United Kingdom.  

 

As part of this team, you will provide financial reporting, administration, and guidance in adherence with financial accounting standards and support colleagues, clients, and stakeholders of the business in order to meet business needs and create robust policies and procedures to scale a quickly growing business. This role will require leadership by proactively improving practices and anticipating the financial accounting requirements of the organisation.

Key responsibilities to include but not limited to:

Treasury/Cash Management

o   Provide timely and accurate cash flow statements and support planning for operational funding requirements.

o   In collaboration with the CFO, manage cash by obtaining favourable payment terms where available.

Finance Operations

o   Manage relationships with financial external stakeholders such as banking contacts and Revenue authorities etc.

o   Support tenders and proposals with Finance data elements.

o   Support the filing of annual surveys as required by statutory reporting requirements or as part of participation frameworks (e.g., G-Cloud) or industry organisations (e.g., IDA Ireland).

Financial Reporting

o   Prepare information for corporate financial reports and provide regular monthly reporting.

o   Manage all VAT reporting required in each tax jurisdiction.

o   Act as key liaison with external accountants for all annual or periodic statutory filings and audits.

Budgeting

o   In conjunction with business unit managers, develop annual budgets.

o   Disseminate reporting to internal and external stakeholders reflecting actual performance against budgets.

o   Support Research Finance team in developing an optimal approach for monitoring Research Project budgets.

Fixed Assets Management

o   Develop and maintain procedures related to the management of fixed assets within the company.

o   Ensure the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions related to acquisition, depreciation and disposal of assets.

Monitoring Policies & Procedures

o   Develop documentation related to finance policies and procedures and improving these on an ongoing basis.

 



Job requirements

Required education and experience

Essential:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification.

  • Minimum of five years bookkeeping and/or accounting experience with at least one year of experience subsequent to qualification.

  • Experience working in a customer-focused environment.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience assisting with software transitioning.

  • Experience with two or more financial accounting software systems.

 

Professional knowledge and technical skills

Essential:

  • Excellent written communication skills to support effective collaboration and communication = across all levels of the organisation.

  • Knowledge and prior professional experience with computer and accounting packages including Microsoft Office, with a focus on advanced Excel skills.

  • Ability and experience performing project planning and project management tasks for small-scale internal projects.

 

Interpersonal skills

Essential:

  • Customer-focused mindset.

  • Detailed oriented.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-specialist audiences.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritise.

  • Good time-management skills and the ability to manage conflicting demands on time and tasks.

  • Ability to work autonomously and on own initiative and manage expectations with stakeholders.

  • Proactively manage workload and produce results on a timely basis.

 

 

What else do I need to know?

Location: This position is open to candidates based in theUnited Kingdom.

Contract type:Permanent Employment Contract.

Start date: Early 2025.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Hours: Full-Time.
