Location: Dundee and an onsite role

Role description and purpose

Electrical Design Engineer with a keen interest in electrical / electronic design and product development to join our team based in Dundee. The ideal candidate must have experience in electrical and electronic design, have an understanding of control systems engineering and a natural problem-solving ability.

You will work with a variety of products, including biomass cameras, electric stunning systems, acoustic and electric predator deterrents, sea lice removal systems, all designed to improve both operational efficiency and animal welfare standards.

Reporting to the Lead Electronics Engineer and working as part of a dynamic and varied engineering team. You will provide electrical design support by preparing and checking design documentation, reviews, estimates and schedules. You will also support the business development process by inputting into customer enquiries and product specifications.

Experience of the aquaculture, agriculture, marine or offshore industries would be beneficial but is not essential. This role splits its time between hands on and theoretical works, therefore the ability to prioritise and manage your time effectively is essential.

Responsibilities of the role:

Develop, review, update and modify, electrical design plans and work schedules to meet project requirements
Develop and maintain electrical panel schematics, controls, and systems schematics.
Manage and check system installations, ensuring that product specification is met and adheres to relevant safety standards.
Design, update and maintain user documentation, and technical files as necessary, specific to each product.
Provide technical support to customer service team.
Design product documentation including all specifications, drawings, design calculations, user documents, technical reports, schematics and technical support material.
Conducting research and development, performing diagnostics and troubleshooting equipment.
Maintain and build trusted relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders.

Experience & Skills:

BSc in Electrical, Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum of three years' experience in the design of electro-mechanical systems.
Experience in PCB layout and Schematic Entry
Experience in PLC/embedded based control systems, either in ladder logic or "C" based environments.
Knowledge of 3-Phase supply, distribution systems, cable management, earthing and bonding designs.
Excellent PC, MS Office skills, coupled with bespoke programming or design software experience.
Experienced to work in complex project environments with third-party vendors and subcontractors.
Able to analyse data using sound statistical methodology and effectively present technical information.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to work in a lab environment on system building, wiring and assisting the Operations & Service teams.
Willingness to travel for on-site installation and/or survey
Experience in aquaculture, agriculture, marine or offshore industries would be beneficial.
