Document Controller Job – Avonmouth, Bristol

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Document Controller to support a major industrial project located in Avonmouth, Bristol. This role is integral to ensuring the efficient management of documentation across all project phases, interacting with multiple internal and external stakeholders including engineering firms, contractors, partners, and authorities.

Based in Avonmouth, Bristol, the Document Controller will work closely with the Project Control team, reporting directly to the Senior PMO. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity and accuracy of all project documentation while also providing executive support on travel arrangements, workshops, and visitor coordination.

Key Responsibilities – Document Controller, Avonmouth, Bristol:



Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of document management processes and tools across the project.

Ensure adherence to document control standards and maintain data quality within the project’s Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).

*

Coordinate with project team members to collect, update, and manage key documentation and progress indicators.

*

Contribute to document configuration management in the EDMS, tailoring the system to meet evolving project needs.

*

Facilitate user training on the EDMS and serve as a first point of contact for document-related queries.

*

Provide administrative support to the project team, including scheduling travel, organising workshops, and supporting visits.

*

Communicate clearly and consistently with diverse internal teams and external project stakeholders, ensuring collaborative and efficient information exchange.

Experience & Profile – Document Controller, Avonmouth, Bristol:

*

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a documentation control role on major projects.

*

At least 1 year’s experience providing support to a project delivery team.

*

Proven ability to work autonomously while managing documentation from multiple stakeholders.

*

Highly organised, detail-oriented, and rigorous in maintaining documentation standards.

*

Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced project environment.

*

Experience with Documentum or other EDMS platforms is an advantage but not essential.

Additional Information – Document Controller, Avonmouth, Bristol:

*

Initially based in Bristol, with eventual transfer to the Avonmouth site (approx. 30 km from central Bristol) as the project progresses.

*

Occasional travel to France and Germany may be required for training and coordination.

*

Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

*

This role requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders effectively.
