Job Description

Exciting opportunity for a Director, Corporate and FIG Debt Capital Markets Syndicate with a leading international corporate & investment bank in London.

Job Purpose

The Director of Capital Markets will oversee Debt Syndicate operations and support the Debt Market Origination teams, facilitating Capital Markets mandates for the bank's clients in the UK and Europe. This role involves preparing client presentations, analyzing active Capital Markets, assisting with growth initiatives, and addressing client queries. Additionally, the role includes pricing and executing public market transactions, developing a comprehensive skill set across the bank's core client base in Corporate and FIG.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the strategic objectives of the Capital Markets team, aligning with Corporate Finance and CIB strategies.
  • Manage end-to-end transaction execution, including pricing, transaction formation/approval, collaboration with external syndicates, obtaining internal approvals, and settlement.
  • Utilize tools such as e-books and Bloomberg for high-level execution.
  • Price capital market issuances for the bank's clients across core markets (EUR, GBP).
  • Collaborate with bond origination and sales colleagues to execute transactions.
  • Engage with issuers and investors to provide market updates, identify opportunities, and manage roadshows.
  • Enhance the bank's profile through industry engagement.

Required Skills

  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Bloomberg.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn more about Capital Markets products and the general market.

The Successful Applicant

Experience and Qualifications

  • University degree in Finance, Economics, or Business.
  • Proven experience in Debt Syndicate execution.
  • Strong understanding of global debt products and asset classes.
  • Ability to work under intense time pressure with limited support.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with external market participants, senior executives, and internal stakeholders.

Job-Specific Skills

  • Leading transaction management for live corporate & FIG DCM syndicate deals.
  • Understanding financial markets and new issue pricing.
  • Demonstrated capability in one or more capital markets products.
  • Knowledge of EU/UK Capital Market trends and regulatory changes.
  • Proficiency in bond pricing and bond math.
  • Data mining for trend analysis.

General Skills

  • Advanced presentation skills for senior management decision-making.
  • Strong desire to improve capital markets and overall banking and finance skills.
  • Financial mathematics and modeling.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
