Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications & Data, the Data Warehouse Architect will play a crucial role in the delivery, management, and implementation of data platforms, applications, and solutions that support internal teams and clients within a complex, high-growth, multinational environment. This position will focus on architecting and building the data warehouse inAzure Synapseand creating data pipelines inAzure Data Factory.

This position is ideal for a hands-on professional who has extensive experience withAzure Synapse,Azure Data Factory, andMSSQL, and can lead the development of data platforms while ensuring high standards of performance, security, and reliability. You will have the opportunity to shape the data architecture and solutions for a growing organization, driving innovation while maintaining a focus on business and technical needs.

What you'll do:

Data Platform Architecture & Development:

  • Architect and build scalable, efficient, and reliable data warehouses in Azure Synapse, focusing on transforming raw data into actionable insights.
  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, ensuring smooth data integration from multiple sources into the Synapse environment.
  • Take a hands-on lead in developing solutions for data collection, processing, and storage that align with business and strategic goals.

Database Performance Monitoring & Optimization:

  • Monitor the performance of databases, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks to ensure optimal database functionality.
  • Make necessary adjustments, such as indexing, query optimization, and partitioning, to ensure databases are running smoothly and efficiently.

Backup and Disaster Recovery Management:

  • Ensure regular backups of the organization’s data are performed, and test backups for recoverability.
  • In the event of a disaster, manage the restoration of data quickly and accurately to minimize downtime.

Data Security and Integrity:

  • Implement robust security measures, such as access controls, encryption, and auditing, to protect both internal and client data.
  • Ensure data integrity by enforcing data validation rules, resolving conflicts, and maintaining consistency across the database.

Database Troubleshooting:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, including data corruption, system failures, and performance-related problems, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with IT leadership and key business partners to develop an understanding of business needs and requirements, and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Maintain a practical, working knowledge of business processes and how data platforms can support operational goals and decision-making.

Cloud Platform Administration:

  • Abide by best practices and strategies for platform administration, particularly in cloud environments like Azure, ensuring high availability, security, and efficiency of data platforms.
  • Support the administration of cloud-based systems and manage ongoing platform health and performance.

Documentation and Training:

  • Provide clear and thorough documentation for the data platforms, ETL processes, and security protocols.
  • Lead training efforts, ensuring all technical and non-technical team members are well-versed in platform capabilities and best practices.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuously explore, evaluate, and implement new technologies and frameworks to improve data platform development and operational efficiency.
  • Incorporate a culture of agile development, testing, and integration to maximize the reliability and performance of data solutions.

Requirements:

We're looking for someone with:

  • 6+ years of experience in development in MSSQL, preferably in an Azure environment.
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience in administration of MSSQL databases and database systems; at least 2 years of Azure administration.
  • 4+ years of experience with Azure Business Intelligence solutions, including Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and Azure DevOps. Experience with Microsoft Fabric would be a HUGE bonus.
  • 3+ years of experience in Data Warehousing, with a preference for Azure Synapse.
  • 3+ years of experience in the Microsoft Power Platform, specifically Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
  • Experience with API integrations and the ability to integrate multiple systems and services effectively.
  • Experience writing, deploying, and maintaining .NET C# code, with additional experience in Windows services and web development being a bonus.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing software and data integrations in an outsourced contact center/BPO environment.
  • Experience in consumption-based services including PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS.
  • Proven experience in data engineering, including building data warehouses, data marts, and data pipelines.
  • Deep experience in cloud-first platform enablement with a focus on Azure, as well as API and microservices architectures.
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail.
