Guy Carpenter is seeking a dynamic and hands-on leader in the UK to enhance, refine, and innovate our data strategy for our international reinsurance brokerage businesses. This role will focus on advancing the regional adoption of our global data lake, enhancing analytics in claims and contracts, and integrating semi-structured brokerage information. Our goal is to empower our clients, markets, and colleagues with cutting-edge data technology tools that set us apart in the industry. The datasets and products will require regional specialisation across various lines of business, including property, casualty, aviation, and marine, addressing critical events such as wildfires, hurricanes, floods, cyberattacks, and terrorism.

This position is targeted towards our international businesses headquartered in London, covering regions such as the UK, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Continental Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The role will be based in London and operates in a hybrid model, requiring at least three days a week in the office.

We will count on you to:

Advise and empower embedded data technologists to better serve their businesses.

Drive product adoption, support, and enhancement for existing data products.

Survey broking, analytics, &service colleagues on data needs and opportunities.

Cultivate strong relationships with leaders where the impact of data technology is a priority.

Calibrate and articulate the data roadmap to a broader stakeholder base.

Maintain a data skillset roster and regularly performresource gap analysis.

Demonstrate agility and a relentless focus on delivering value, navigating the landscape of available resources (personnel, technologies, data, etc.)

What you need to have:

Experience in traditional data technology roles, such as data engineer, data scientist, analytics engineer, backend engineer, or data product manager, within a data-driven organisation.

Strong experience with standard data tools such as Python, dbt, SQL, APIs, and Spark.

Proven experience in a lead role, such as a senior solutions engineer, client-facing senior data consultant, or start-up CTO, with a successful track record in delivering data products.

Strong experience in data analytics, EDA, data architecture, and schema design.

Experience building complex dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.

What makes you stand out?

Expert with the Databricks platform or analogs (Snowflake or Palantir)

Experience with Python-based webapp frameworks (FastAPI, Django, etc.) and/or low-code data webapp frameworks (Streamlit, Plotly Dash, RStudio, etc.)

Knowledge of the insurance industry, or interest and ability to learn it quickly.
