We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our team. You will contribute to designing, building and maintaining our data analytics systems and machine learning models, and will create and drive forward data science projects for internal users and our customers.

The Pelion data team works with huge quantities of metadata about the behaviour of millions of devices around the world, from smart meters to high-volume public wifi. We aim to excel in efficient use of big data, understanding the Internet of Things, and data analytics for internal and external users. You will work on data analytics and machine learning systems, with involvement at every stage from R&D to production.

Role responsibilities:

  • Work with large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights
  • Analyse data and present results in a clear manner to meet business needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and identify opportunities for data-driven solutions
  • Collaborate with technical teams to bring new machine learning projects into production
  • Continuously improve data pipeline processes and procedures, including for performance and scalability

Candidate profile:

  • PhD degree or equivalent research experience, covering relevant topics
  • Fluency in data analysis and machine learning concepts
  • Experience building machine learning models, including timeseries forecasting
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Experience with SQL databases including MariaDB
  • Ability to learn new languages and systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience working on Debian Linux
