About The Job

Openr is a SaaS platform that transforms how the hospitality industry manages and shares data.

Location: London (Hybrid, 2 days/week)

Type: Full-time

Level: Senior, Mid

About The Job

Openr is a SaaS platform that transforms how the hospitality industry manages and shares data.

By centralising & mastering all recipe, product and pricing in a single platform, we enable hospitality businesses to seamlessly publish consistent & accurate data across all their platforms in real time, including delivery channels, EPOS and other customer touchpoints.

We’ve already achieved significant ARR, closed a £3m fundraise, and are backed by Azzurri Group, one of the UK’s most successful hospitality investment platforms. With an exciting roadmap to deliver, we’re looking for a Data Scientist to help us build price modelling & optimisation for the hospitality sector, enabling brilliant restaurants, pubs, bars & cafes to thrive and grow.

What You’ll Do

As a Data Scientist at Openr, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing price modelling & price optimisation algorithms that maximise revenue for our customers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, sales & customer success, to enable data-driven pricing strategies for our customers.

You will:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain advanced price modelling & price optimisation algorithms.
  • Analyse historical and real-time data to identify pricing opportunities and challenges.
  • Build predictive models to forecast customer behavior and demand elasticity.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate algorithms into production systems.
  • Monitor and refine pricing models based on real-world performance and feedback.
  • Enable Openr customers to conduct A/B testing and scenario simulations using our platform to evaluate the impact of pricing strategies.
  • Conduct research with customers & stakeholders and present insights and recommendations in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Train & upskill your peers, sharing best practice and learnings with the wider team.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an individual who fits right in, and has integrity in their approach. We are looking for a collaborator, someone with a low ego who will contribute to our positive culture and be comfortable working across all functions.

  • Previous experience in implementing large-scale price optimisation systems.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or a similar language.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis tools
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and optimisation techniques.
  • Solid understanding & experience of pricing strategies, demand modeling, and elasticity.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with complex datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in e-commerce, SaaS, or a related industry.
  • Familiarity & experience with AWS
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling and time-series forecasting.

What Success Looks Like

  • Impactful Pricing Optimisation Capability: Implementation of pricing algorithms that enable our customers to sustainably grow their revenue through price optimisation without requiring their own data science capability.
  • Customer Trust: Building trust in customers to use machine learning and data science in their pricing decisions as a matter of course.
  • Algorithm Performance: Delivery of scalable, high-performance pricing models that are responsive to real-time data and adapt seamlessly to changes in market dynamics.
  • Collaboration and Influence: Building strong partnerships with product, engineering, sales & customer success teams, and effectively communicating data science recommendations to influence strategic decisions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrating a commitment to experimentation, learning, and iterative improvement, ensuring pricing models remain cutting-edge and competitive.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Satisfaction: Enhanced customer experience and satisfaction through fair and optimised pricing, coupled with stakeholder trust in the reliability of the pricing systems.

This role will be a critical contributor to Openr’s growth trajectory, directly influencing the company’s ability to deliver value through intelligent and innovative pricing solutions.

Why Join Openr?

We are at the start of our journey, with an exceptional product that will change the way operators control their pricing across all customer touchpoints.

  • Market Traction: Backed by Azzurri Group, we recently raised £3m in funding.
  • High Impact: As our first data science hire, you’ll shape Openr’s growth strategy and success.
  • Autonomy & Ownership: You will have freedom to recommend systems, build processes, and set the standard for data science at Openr
  • Innovative Culture: Join an engaged, open, and hard-working team at the forefront of hospitality tech.
  • Inclusive environment: Join an inclusive culture that welcomes and values all employees

Role Details

  • Hybrid Role: At least 2 days/week in our London office

If you’re an ambitious data scientist ready to take ownership, deliver growth, and lay the foundations for a platform that we believe will truly transform the hospitality sector, we’d love to hear from you!

Data Science Jobs Skills Radar 2026: Emerging Tools, Languages & Platforms to Learn Now

The UK’s data science job market is evolving fast—from forecasting models and AI assistants to real-time decision systems. In 2026, data scientists aren’t just expected to build models—they’re responsible for shaping insights that fuel everything from patient care to predictive banking. Welcome to the Data Science Jobs Skills Radar 2026—your essential annual guide to the languages, tools, and platforms driving demand across the UK. Whether you’re entering the job market or reskilling mid-career, this roadmap helps you prioritise the skills that matter most right now.

How to Find Hidden Data Science Jobs in the UK Using Professional Bodies like the RSS, BCS & More

The data science job market in the UK is thriving—but also increasingly competitive. As organisations in finance, healthcare, retail, government, and tech accelerate digital transformation, the demand for data talent has soared. Yet many of the best data science jobs are never posted publicly. They’re shared behind closed doors—within professional networks, at invite-only events, or through member-only mailing lists and specialist interest groups. These “hidden” roles are often filled through referrals, collaborations, or direct outreach to trusted experts. In this guide, we’ll show you how to unlock these hidden opportunities by engaging with key UK professional bodies such as the Royal Statistical Society (RSS), BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT), and Turing Society, plus communities like PyData and AI UK. You’ll learn how to use directories, CPD events, and networks to move beyond job boards—and into roles where you’re approached, not just applying.

How to Get a Better Data Science Job After a Lay-Off or Redundancy

Redundancy can be tough to face, especially in a competitive field like data science. But it’s important to know: your experience, analytical thinking, and modelling skills are still in demand. Across sectors like healthcare, finance, e-commerce, government and AI startups, UK employers continue to seek data scientists who can deliver value through insight, prediction, and automation. This guide will walk you through how to bounce back from redundancy with purpose and clarity—whether you're a data analyst looking to step up, a mid-level data scientist, or a machine learning specialist seeking a better-aligned opportunity.
