LOCATION: London / Newcastle / Salford / Glasgow. Hybrid model with an expectation to attend your office base location 1 day a week on average. SALARY RANGE: £38000 - £48000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. Flexible working will be part of the discussion at offer stage. Purpose of the role

The BBC has been serving audiences online for decades, across key products such as BBC iPlayer. As we evolve to deliver more personalised content and experiences, Data Science is at the heart of that transformation. We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join the Product Group to help build ML/AI-powered, personalised experiences for millions of audience members.

Your key responsibilities and impact
  • Use your technical skills to deliver value to BBC audiences, blending a breadth and depth of data science expertise.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to deliver value with ML in production.
  • Develop an understanding of data science best practice, including model lifecycle management and MLOps.
  • Join the wider BBC Data Science community with internal and external opportunities to get involved.
  • Be enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and helping others grow.
Your skills and experience
  • ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: An understanding of data science and machine learning techniques.
  • Good general programming skills, particularly in Python.

  • Interest in personal development and building deep subject matter expertise.
  • Willingness to work in a team where data science support is new, with colleagues at varying levels of understanding.
  • Experience putting data science models in production, including awareness of cloud services and their utility in data science.
