Job Title:Cable Network Engineer

Location:Cambridge and surrounding areas

Salary/Rate:£130 - £160 per day (based on an 8-hour working day, dependent on experience)

Start Date:04/11/2024

We are seeking experienced data engineers to join our dynamic team and contribute to high-profile projects across the region


Job Responsibilities/Objectives:

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for structured cable pulling and installation, ensuring the smooth execution of both copper and fiber networks. You will need to be proficient in all stages of the process, from 1st and 2nd fix to termination and certification testing. Occasionally, you may take on a leadership role, requiring the ability to read construction drawings and route cables accordingly.


Key responsibilities include:


1.Perform structured cable pulling and installation in domestic, commercial, and industrial environments.

2.Conduct 1st and 2nd fix installations, including termination (both floor and cabinet end) and certification testing.

3.Work in live environments, maintaining professionalism and a client-focused attitude.

4.Read construction drawings and manage cable routing within and outside buildings when required.

5.Utilize Excel network solutions and work with various cable brands (Ultima, Draka, Commscope, etc.).


Required Skills/Experience:


The ideal candidate will have the following:


1.Proven track record in structured cabling, with a focus on copper and fiber installation.

2.Proficiency in Excel network solutions, with experience in brands like Ultima, Draka, Hellermantyton, etc.

3.CSCS/ECS trade-specific card (or the ability to provide work examples if non-trade specific).

4.Enhanced DBS check (mandatory due to work with vulnerable people).

5.Understanding of construction drawings and cable routing.


Desirable Skills/Experience:


1.SSSTS qualification (advantageous but not necessary).

2.Experience with brands like Leviton, Panduit, and Commscope.


Additional Requirements:


1.Basic set of hand tools, including cutters/snips, Stanley knife, screwdrivers, combi drill, punchdown tool, and more.

2.Own transport is essential. Parking will be provided where possible.
