Your primary focus will be to oversee the quality and integrity of data flowing into our BigQuery Data Warehouse from various internal and external sources, proactively handling schema changes, and fostering strong inter-team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

    1. Act as the liaison between the BI team and upstream data source teams to ensure alignment on data requirements, schema changes, and SLAs.
    2. Build effective communication channels for sharing updates, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating data-related changes.
    3. Host regular meetings with upstream teams to anticipate and plan for upcoming changes.
  3. Monitor and Analyze Data Pipelines:
    1. Use monitoring tools to track changes in data pipelines and external integrations, ensuring minimal disruption to reporting and analysis.
    2. Assess backend system releases and updates to evaluate potential impacts on data flows, reporting, and B2B partner operations.
  4. Implement Data Governance Processes:
    1. Design and implement scalable workflows to manage schema changes and data updates.
    2. Develop and maintain documentation of data integration workflows, dependencies, and changes.
    3. Establish best practices for reliable and consistent data processes across the organization.
  5. Communicate Proactively:
    1. Inform B2B partners and internal stakeholders about changes affecting shared data or integrations.
    2. Collaborate with technical teams to communicate risks, implement solutions, and ensure smooth data operations.

Requirements:

  1. Strong understanding of data integration processes in cloud environments, preferably BigQuery.
  2. Proficiency in SQL and knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  3. Experience with tools that monitor data pipelines and external integrations.
  4. Analytical mindset to evaluate system changes and their impact on business operations and partnerships.
  5. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with internal teams and external partners.
  6. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documenting workflows and changes.
  7. Ability to develop and enforce data governance processes and data contracts.
  8. Experience in project management or coordination roles is a plus.

Pre-Employment Checks for Data Science Jobs: DBS, References & Right-to-Work and more Explained

Pre-employment screening in data science reflects the discipline's unique position at the intersection of statistical analysis, machine learning innovation, and strategic business intelligence. Data scientists often have privileged access to comprehensive datasets, proprietary algorithms, and business-critical insights that form the foundation of organisational strategy and competitive positioning. The data science industry operates within complex regulatory frameworks spanning GDPR, sector-specific data protection requirements, and emerging AI governance regulations. Data scientists must demonstrate not only technical competence in statistical modelling and machine learning but also deep understanding of research ethics, data privacy principles, and the societal implications of algorithmic decision-making. Modern data science roles frequently involve analysing personally identifiable information, financial data, healthcare records, and sensitive business intelligence across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks simultaneously. The combination of analytical privilege, predictive capabilities, and strategic influence makes thorough candidate verification essential for maintaining compliance, security, and public trust in data-driven insights and automated systems.
