The Data Governance & Enablement Manager is responsible for implementing and enabling data management policies and standards within DLA Piper. This role involves managing data as a strategic asset, ensuring it is discoverable, understood, trusted, secured and available - in alignment with data management best practices.

The manager will be hands on and responsible for definition and execution of approaches to data ownership, metadata and lineage, data quality, reference data and master data management, amongst others.

Main duties and responsibilities

Implement comprehensive data management policies and standards to ensure data discovery, understanding, quality, and compliance with legal and ethical standards

Establish a comprehensive data management operating model to embed data ownership roles, related processes and technology

Implement strategies and practices to classify data, protect data privacy and implement lifecycle management in collaboration with Office of General Counsel

Set and monitor data quality standards, liaising with data owners on DQ remediation initiatives across the organisation

Oversee the management of business metadata to improve data usability and understanding

Oversee the establishment of MDM and reference data strategies to ensure data consistency and accuracy.

Continuously improve data management practices for efficiency and effectiveness

About you

Deep experience implementing Data Ownership and Data Management Operating Models.

Knowledge of metadata and data quality tools, databases, data warehousing, and data analysis techniques. Familiarity with SQL and data visualization

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify data quality issues and develop effective solutions

Curiosity and eagerness to explore the new frontiers and opportunities for Data Management & Quality in the GenAI space, both as enabler and beneficiary (Data for GenAI & GenAI for Data)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with various stakeholders and promote data ownership and data quality best practices across the organization

Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead projects from inception to completion

In-depth understanding of data management principles and practices

Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate complex data concepts

Ability to identify and address data-related challenges effectively

Knowledge of legal and ethical considerations in data management, especially in the legal sector

In-depth experience of data management tooling for managing metadata, data quality and master data amongst others
