Role Summary and Impact

The MFG team is seeking a smart and ambitious Data Governance Analyst as part of the Global Data Governance team to provide quality assurance oversight on business processes where data is collected, stored, transformed, or used. The candidate will collect and review data for reports to uncover any data errors and coordinate correction with internal and external teams. The candidate will also assist with projects involved with the data Governance program.

Some of the things we'd like you to do:

  • Manage the delivery of weekly dashboards that evaluate datasets for quality and accuracy, providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Drive data cleansing efforts by identifying, assessing, and proactively resolving any data quality issues.
  • Execute business-as-usual (BAU) tasks derived from ongoing Data Governance projects, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to troubleshoot data quality errors and facilitate timely issue resolution, acting as a trusted data expert.
  • Continuously monitor and report on the progress of data quality improvements, highlighting key metrics and successes.
  • Identify areas for process and tool enhancement, developing innovative solutions to uplift overall data quality and efficiency.
  • Engage cross-discipline teams in the importance of data excellence and uplift data literacy across the business.
  • Lead development effort in building and delivering dashboards that evaluate datasets for quality and accuracy.
  • Assist in documenting data processes, standards, and policies to foster a culture of data excellence.
  • Assist with projects within the Data Governance team when necessary.
Skills and Experience

Required

  • Strong command of written and spoken English
  • A strong, methodical approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Fluency in SQL and Python, or similar programming languages
  • Ability to work unsupervised/in staggered time zones
  • Proficient in Google Sheets and/or Excel, especially with macros, AppScript, VBA, etc.

Desired

  • Good project management skills with the ability to communicate technical details to a range of audiences
  • Prior experience with data quality, data governance, or data hygiene practices
  • Previous exposure to ETL tools such as dbt and GitLab
  • Previous experience with Google Cloud Platform, Azure, AWS, etc.
  • Previous experience with BI tools such as Data Studio and Looker
  • If the grammar and spelling errors, inconsistent punctuation, and random capitalizations bother you
