Optimise and manage our SQL Server databases and Azure Data Lake environments

Develop robust, analyst-friendly data models that power high-impact reporting in Power BI

Integrate complex data from systems like CRM, finance, and operations into a clean, central warehouse

Use Python, Databricks, and Azure Synapse for advanced processing, transformation, and automation

Collaborate closely with analysts and business teams to ensure reliable, high-quality data flows

At GLL, no two days are the same — your work will power decisions that improve health, happiness, and opportunity for millions of people.

What you need:

Experience working with Azure data services – including Data Factory, Blob Storage, and Synapse Analytics

Strong SQL and data modelling skills, especially for analytics and BI

Knowledge of Power BI datasets, service infrastructure, and refresh pipelines

Hands-on experience with Databricks, Airflow, or similar tools

Bonus: Experience in CI/CD, DevOps, or data governance in a BI environment

A collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and a desire to use data for good

As a leader within the leisure industry, we can also offer scope to progress your career and job variety like nowhere else. As a charitable social enterprise and cooperative owned by our staff, GLL is a unique organisation for you to have a career with!

As a staff-owned organisation, you will be given the opportunity to join the Society and have a stake in your business.

Pre-Employment Checks for Data Science Jobs: DBS, References & Right-to-Work and more Explained

Pre-employment screening in data science reflects the discipline's unique position at the intersection of statistical analysis, machine learning innovation, and strategic business intelligence. Data scientists often have privileged access to comprehensive datasets, proprietary algorithms, and business-critical insights that form the foundation of organisational strategy and competitive positioning. The data science industry operates within complex regulatory frameworks spanning GDPR, sector-specific data protection requirements, and emerging AI governance regulations. Data scientists must demonstrate not only technical competence in statistical modelling and machine learning but also deep understanding of research ethics, data privacy principles, and the societal implications of algorithmic decision-making. Modern data science roles frequently involve analysing personally identifiable information, financial data, healthcare records, and sensitive business intelligence across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks simultaneously. The combination of analytical privilege, predictive capabilities, and strategic influence makes thorough candidate verification essential for maintaining compliance, security, and public trust in data-driven insights and automated systems.
