About Us

Machnet Medical Robotics (MMR), founded in 2020, is on a mission to revolutionize medical robotics. Our guiding principle is simple: innovation must improve patient outcomes, support clinicians without disrupting workflows, and empower healthcare staff rather than adding burden.

MMR is a well-funded company with long-term investors and a strong financial foundation. Backed by a very talented hardware and software team, we have already built a robust medical robotic platform that has reached important milestones. With this solid base, we are now moving into the next exciting chapter: integrating advanced artificial intelligence to redefine how robotics can transform healthcare.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented and mission-driven Senior Data Engineer to design and maintain scalable data infrastructure for real-time, image-guided medical robotics applications. You will work hands-on with AI scientists, clinical and imaging specialists, building robust data pipelines that power AI workflows and integrate seamlessly with our robotic systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines for real-time and batch processing
  • Build and maintain data lakes, warehouses, and streaming platforms
  • Develop architectures that support AI workflows and integration with clinical/robotic software

Data Operations and Quality

  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and high performance of data systems
  • Implement data versioning, lineage tracking, and reproducibility practices
  • Define data engineering standards and best practices aligned with medical device requirements
  • Monitor data quality, availability, and integrity across platforms
  • Manage backups, disaster recovery, and incident response

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA)
  • Follow medical device software standards (ISO 62304)
  • Implement security, governance, and documentation for regulatory use
  • Work closely with AI scientists, software engineers, and clinical experts to optimize data ingestion, transformation, and storage
  • Translate functional requirements into efficient technical solutions
  • Support analytics and deployment of ML models into production environments

Platform Management

  • Build and maintain on-prem/cloud data infrastructure
  • Optimize costs and resource utilization
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and tools for healthcare applications
  • Plan data infrastructure roadmap and capacity
  • Drive automation and self-service capabilities

What We Are Looking For

  • Master’s / PhD in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of experience in data engineering (healthcare/medical devices preferred but not required)
  • Strong Python programming and data engineering skills (Pandas, PySpark, Dask)
  • Proficiency with databases (SQL/NoSQL), ETL processes, and modern data frameworks (Apache Spark, Airflow, Kafka)
  • Solid experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD for data pipelines
  • Understanding of data privacy and healthcare compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 62304)
  • Strong software engineering practices: Git, testing, reproducibility, documentation
  • Experience deploying data solutions into production with focus on scalability, reliability, and integration

Why Join Us?

At MMR, you’ll work at the intersection of robotics, AI, and healthcare. You will build data systems that directly enable life-changing technology in hospitals. You’ll be part of a collaborative, impact-driven team, where your technical expertise will shape the future of medical robotics.

Equally important, we believe that technology must serve people responsibly. At MMR, we value human-centered innovation, moral integrity, and long-term responsibility. This applies not only to how we design our products, but also to how we treat our employees: with respect, care, and a commitment to their well-being and growth.

What We Offer

  • A pivotal role in a fast-growing, well-funded startup at the cutting edge of medical AI and robotics
  • An international and interdisciplinary environment, with offices in Zwolle (Netherlands) and Central London (UK)
  • Access to a fully equipped prototyping space and opportunities to work directly with clinicians
  • A culture that values innovation, inclusion, and people. We care about our employees’ well-being, support their long-term career growth, and foster genuine relationships built on trust
  • An attractive compensation package, benchmarked against leading MedTech companies and designed to attract top talent.
  • The satisfaction of knowing your work will have a direct impact on patient care worldwide.
