Cooper Parry are seeking a skilled and proactive Data Engineer to join our growing Data & Analytics team. You will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable data infrastructure on the Azure and Microsoft stack, enabling enterprise-wide analytics, reporting, and data science initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the foundation of our future "lab and factory" model of analytics and ML delivery.

A day in the life of a CP Data Engineer...

  • Design and build end-to-end data pipelines and integrations using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse and related tools
  • Monitor data pipeline schedules and resolve issues related to job failures, data delays, or quality problems
  • Develop and support a Lakehouse architecture, including structured and unstructured data ingestion, processing, and consumption layers
  • Implement and optimise semantic models for Power BI and support self-service analytics across CP
  • Support the development of a secure and scalable analytics lab environment for advanced analytics and ML experimentation
  • Work with the team to implement data architecture principles and best practices across our platform
  • Ensure robust CI/CD processes, monitoring, and alerting for data pipelines to ensure performance, reliability, and data quality
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, and analysts to deliver clean, curated datasets and data products
  • Contribute to data governance, metadata management, and data cataloguing initiatives

As a Data Engineer, you will work cross-functionally in a hybrid business/technical team, so strong communication is a must. Of course you'll need an understanding of data pipeline monitoring, alerting, and observability best practices.

You also need:

  • Proven experience in a Data Engineering role within enterprise environments
  • Hands-on experience designing, implementing and maintaining complex data pipelines using Azure Data Services. (Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Azure Functions)
  • Experience integrating and transforming data from various sources such as Legacy Systems, Restful APIs, Flat files
  • Knowledge of modern data architectures: Data warehouse, Lakehouse, Data Lake
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI, semantic modelling, and DAX
  • Strong SQL and data manipulation skills. Exposure to Python and PySpark is required.
  • Experience working with open data formats like Delta Lake, Parquet, Json, Csv.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), and deployment automation tools

Bonus points if you have:

  • Exposure to MuleSoft or other API integration tools
  • Experience in data governance, data cataloguing, and privacy/security in cloud data environments
  • Understanding of business domains such as professional services or financial services
  • Experience designing or supporting environments for advanced analytics or ML, including collaborative analytics "labs"
