Evelyn Partners Data Services Team

At Evelyn Partners, we are expanding our Data Services team, investing in a large-scale modernisation programme to drive innovation and insights. We’re building a new team to enhance data modelling, reporting, AI initiatives, and cloud data platforms like Snowflake.

These roles can be based in Liverpool or Glasgow, with the requirement to be in the office to collaborate with colleagues twice a week.

What will you be doing?

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our MS SQL Server Data Warehouses and associated data feeds into and out of the warehouses, and developing on our new modern cloud data platform, requiring Snowflake, dbt and Azure Data Factory experience. Our data platform's support regulatory requirements, business intelligence & reporting needs and numerous system integrations. This role requires strong technical proficiency and a deep understanding of data engineering and data warehousing principles and practices.

You will be critical in the development and support of the new Evelyn Data Platform, which is being engineered on Snowflake, utilising Azure Data Factory pipelines for data integration, dbt for data modelling, Azure BLOB Storage for data storage, and GitHub for version control and collaboration.

As a Data Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Design, develop, and implement data warehouse solutions using Snowflake, Azure, and MS SQL Server.
  • Develop data models and database schemas that support reporting and analytics needs.
  • Extensive use of and fully conversant in SQL.
  • Experience working with programming languages like C#, Python, Java, Spark.
  • Create and maintain ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into the data platforms.
  • Design, develop, and deploy SSIS packages and ADF pipelines.
  • Manage and troubleshoot SSIS packages and ADF pipelines, ensuring data integrity and error handling is robust.
  • Document data warehouse architecture, ETL processes, and database configurations.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should:

 

  • Proven experience building data pipelines in Azure Data Factory and Snowflake.
  • Proficiency in MS SQL Server, including T-SQL programming, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Extensive experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) & Visual Studio and Azure Data Factory (ADF) and GitHub, for ETL development.
  • Experience building and maintaining reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, including star/snowflake schemas, dimensional modelling, and data vault 2.0, and of the principles of ETL technical design
  • Ability to write efficient and optimized SQL queries for data retrieval and manipulation.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and principles
  • Snowflake/Cloud Engineering experience is required:
  • Proven experience working as a Data Engineer, preferably with expertise in Snowflake, ADF, Azure Storage, dbt and GitHub.

Non-Technical

  • Business Analysis skills to derive requirements from business stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the principles of information security and data protection.
  • Ability to communicate with non-technical colleagues at all levels of the organisation with confidence and with clarity.
