Due to continued business growth, we have a great opportunity for a Data Engineer / Senior Data Engineer. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Engineering Manager and will be involved in the development and maintenance of our database infrastructure, reporting, and information systems. The successful applicant will work individually and as part of a larger team on key projects. You will be required to liaise with other members of the engineering team, project stakeholders, and cross-functional teams including QA, product, and support and help shape our reporting and data strategy going forwards.
What You'll Do
Beyond the ongoing development and maintenance of the Revolution data systems, the successful candidate will:
Design, develop, and maintain MS SQL Server databases and our Data Warehouse, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Maintain SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages for ETL processes.
Work with Azure Data Factory (ADF) for cloud-based data processing and transformation.
Implement SQL replication strategies and maintain data consistency across distributed systems.
Develop and maintain Power BI and SSRS reports for data visualization and business intelligence needs.
Work with Azure SQL and managed instances, optimizing for scalability and performance.
Help Developers implement CI/CD pipelines for SQL development using Azure DevOps to automate database deployments.
Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to ensure smooth database operations and with optimizing complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.
Identify and troubleshoot database performance bottlenecks.
Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for database structures, procedures, and best practices.
Participate in agile team activities, including daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and planning meetings.
Assist in training and mentoring junior developers in SQL best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
Skills We're Looking For
Minimum 5 years of experience with MS SQL Server, SSMS, and T-SQL, with a proven ability to write and optimize complex queries.
Database schema design and performance tuning.
Power BI and SSRS reporting tools for business intelligence solutions.
SSIS for ETL processing and automation.
Azure Data Factory (ADF) and cloud-based data solutions.
SQL replication strategies and data synchronization techniques.
Azure SQL and managed instances for cloud database management.
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Ability to document processes, schemas, and best practices effectively.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
