About The Role

XPS Group IT provides IT services to all 2000 employees in offices located across the UK and Ireland. We operate an extensive in‑house IT services function including 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support, Cyber Security Services, Application Support and Development. Currently we manage some 500 VM on our internal network across two datacentres and have recently begun the process of shifting our focus to Azure services and infrastructure. Over the next few years, we will be enhancing our reporting services to the wider business and our clients by collating data from disparate systems across all business functions into centralized services. Successful candidates will be part of this exciting new development and as such can influence the service tools and delivery methods employed.


Key Responsibilities

  • The analysis, transformation, and organisation of raw data with a view to identifying patterns and trends.
  • The building of data systems and pipelines to meet company requirements and provision easy analysis.
  • Evaluate and translate business needs and align these to data systems that drive business intelligence and efficiencies.
  • Work alongside reporting specialists to prepare prescriptive and predictive data models.
  • Enhance data quality and reliability through innovation and improved data systems.
  • Work alongside our IT specialist teams to ensure data security is respected.
  • Collaborate with various business stakeholders, both IT professional and business focused, in the development of industry leading data services.
  • Stay updated in all data service features and developments to ensure we remain focused on relevant services.

Your Profile

  • Whilst not a pre‑requisite, knowledge and experience in the financial services industries would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
  • Familiarity with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Knowledge of SQL and Azure technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret trends and patterns in data.
  • Proficiency in database languages.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Familiarity with the building and deployment of ETL process through Azure Data Factory.
  • Basic understanding of Azure Fabric and appropriate implementation.
  • Familiarity with the management and use cases of Azure Data Lake Storage.
  • Familiarity with the development of analytics Azure Synapse.
  • Familiarity with Azure database service with strong knowledge of the SQL language.
  • An understanding of data modelling concepts.
  • An understanding of data warehousing concepts.
  • Implementing strong security around data sets.
