Data Engineer

We're embarking on one of the firm's most important transformation projects and are looking for a Data Engineer to join us on a six-month fixed-term contract. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in the delivery of Keystone, our brand-new Client and Matter Inception and Customer Relationship Management system.

Keystone, built on the Microsoft Power Platform, will completely reshape how we manage client data and relationships. By joining the project team, you'll make a direct impact on a high-profile programme that's central to our future success.

About The Role

6 month contract

As a Data Engineer, you'll take ownership of transforming, reshaping and migrating data from our legacy CRM and CMI systems into Keystone. You'll make sure the data is accurate, complete and reliable, applying validation techniques and developing smart programmatic solutions to de-duplicate and cleanse client records.

You'll collaborate closely with project managers, developers and stakeholders to resolve data challenges as they arise, ensuring we stay on track and meet key deadlines. Alongside this, you'll document processes to maintain transparency and reproducibility, and you'll make sure every part of your work meets governance, compliance and technical standards.

This role offers you the chance to bring real value, solving complex data challenges while supporting the delivery of a critical firm-wide transformation.

About You

You're an experienced Data Engineer with a solid background in transformation and migration projects, ideally within enterprise environments. You have excellent SQL skills and hands-on knowledge of Microsoft technologies, particularly the Power Platform and Azure Data Factory. You'll know how to apply data quality and validation techniques effectively, and you'll be comfortable designing programmatic approaches to cleansing and de-duplicating data.

You enjoy problem-solving, working analytically and getting into the detail of data to make sure it meets the highest standards. At the same time, you'll be a strong collaborator, able to communicate clearly with colleagues across the business and keep stakeholders engaged throughout the process.

Experience with CRM or CMI systems, such as InforCRM or Intapp Open, will be highly valuable. If you've worked in the legal or professional services sector before, you'll bring useful context, although this isn't essential. What matters most is your technical expertise, your drive to deliver quality outcomes, and your enthusiasm for being part of a forward-looking project team where your work will have a visible, lasting impact.

For more details of the essential and desirable skills we're looking for, have a read of the attached job description.

Where Will I Be Working?

At VWV we have a truly unique and engaging culture that we hold dear. We work hard but we also love to have fun and we recognise that it's the social interaction between us that really shapes our culture.

Whilst we work to a hybrid model, for this role we would like you to work from our Bristol office for at least 1 day per week. In this way, you'll benefit first-hand from our warm and friendly culture as well as facilitate cross referral opportunities from your colleagues in other teams.

Why Choose Us?

There are so many reasons to stop and explore VWV further. We're known for our friendly and welcoming culture where teamwork and collaboration are key. There's no pigeon-holing or glass ceilings here, just a professional yet relaxed culture where you can finally be yourself. We invite you to watch this short video on the right-hand side to see what our own people have to say about us.

We're striving to be an inclusive employer, to create a workplace and environment that promotes and values diversity, where everyone, regardless of background, can reach their full potential. Pre-Employment Checks for Data Science Jobs: DBS, References & Right-to-Work and more Explained

Pre-employment screening in data science reflects the discipline's unique position at the intersection of statistical analysis, machine learning innovation, and strategic business intelligence. Data scientists often have privileged access to comprehensive datasets, proprietary algorithms, and business-critical insights that form the foundation of organisational strategy and competitive positioning. The data science industry operates within complex regulatory frameworks spanning GDPR, sector-specific data protection requirements, and emerging AI governance regulations.
