The Data Architecture Analyst will play a key role in advancing this vision by shaping and improving the university’s data landscape.  As part of the Information Architecture team, the post holder will help develop and maintain a coherent, governed, and secure data architecture that enables better decision-making, modern data capabilities, and alignment with King’s Vision 2029. They will create and maintain architectural blueprints that show how information is stored, processed, integrated, protected, and accessed across the university. Working closely with Architecture, Business Assurance, Data Stewards and Custodians, Data Analytics, Data Solutions, and IT Services, the post holder will support cross-functional collaboration and ensure that King’s data ecosystem is resilient, scalable, and strategically aligned. About the role: The Data Architecture Analyst will use a wide range of technical and practical skills to strengthen the university’s digital and data environment. The role includes contributing to architectural activities that improve operational effectiveness, finding opportunities to enhance information and data architecture, and assessing data management performance through careful analysis and research. The post holder will create and maintain essential data artefacts such as models, metadata, reference data, data flows, standards, procedures, and templates that support strong data governance. They will use clear and accessible data visualisation methods, including diagrams, dashboards, and data catalogues, to provide a complete view of the data landscape. The role also supports major change initiatives by designing, documenting, and recommending solutions that improve operations and guide the development of IT systems. Collaboration with stakeholders, partners, and suppliers is central to maximising the value of information across the university. The post holder will also work to understand user needs and turn these into meaningful concepts, functional components, prototypes, and proofs of concept. By working closely with Architecture, Business Assurance, Data Stewards and Custodians, Data Analytics, Data Solutions, and IT Services, they will help ensure that the data ecosystem remains resilient, scalable, and aligned with strategic goals. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contractAbout you: To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:Essential criteria1.      A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience gained through work, training, or practical application.2.      Demonstrable knowledge of industry-standard data management and architecture frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM).3.      Strong skills in data modelling, including classifications, hierarchies, dependencies, relationships, flows, lineage, and integration.4.      Demonstrable experience in developing information and data architecture artefacts, contributing to solution architecture, and assessing the relevance and impact of emerging technologies.5.      Experience in data visualisation and dashboard development using BI tools such as Power BI, with the ability to present complex data and architectural concepts clearly.6.      Experience producing architectural and data-focused visual artefacts, including data flow diagrams, integration maps, conceptual and logical data models, metadata catalogues, and other visuals that communicate complex information effectively.7.      Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional and cross-departmental teams, with experience in DevOps practices, supported by strong analytical, problem solving, communication, interpersonal, influencing, and innovation skills.8.      Ability to deliver training and workshops on data management and best practices, with a commitment to continuous learning and keeping up to date with emerging technologies. Desirable criteria1.      Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture tools and modelling frameworks such as TOGAF and ArchiMate, as well as practical experience with architecture tools including ABACUS or Archi.2.      Experience in architecting Master Data Management (MDM), Reference Data, Data Integration solutions, and cloud-based data services (e.g., Microsoft Azure).3.      Experience in developing or supporting Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), or Machine Learning (ML) models.4.      Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) and familiarity with Microsoft Fabric. Downloading a copy of our Job DescriptionFull details of the role and the skills, knowledge and experience required can be found in the Job Description document, provided at the bottom of the page.
