Job Title: Data Architect

Location: Hybrid 1-2 days onsite in East London (Stratford)

Contract Type: Permanent Position

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000

Security Clearance: Must be able to secure UK SC Clearance

The OpportunityThis is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-impact, long-term UK Government programme, shaping the foundations of a critical national initiative. As part of the Prime contractor organisation, you'll help design and deliver complex data solutions that will influence national priorities for years to come. You will have the chance to play an instrumental role from the very beginning of the programme, contributing to its success and future scalability.

The Role

The Data Architect will be a key player in supporting the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable data solutions. Working closely with technical specialists, external partners, and customer teams, you will create data architectures that meet complex business requirements and drive the programme forward.

Your Role Will Include

  • Analyzing technical requirements and issues to design robust solutions.
  • Leading the creation of secure, automated data architectures that maximise the reuse of existing components.
  • Writing high- and low-level technical specifications and documentation.
  • Collaborating with customer teams to implement solutions and ensure they meet business objectives.
  • Supporting the resolution of operational issues in live environments.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to developers and data engineers.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in designing and delivering data solutions, particularly within cloud environments such as AWS or Microsoft Azure. You will be comfortable working in complex environments and have a deep understanding of data governance, security, and compliance. You'll also have a proven ability to create and maintain high-quality technical documentation and manage the integration of various data systems.

Specifically, You Will Need To Have

  • Strong experience designing secure data architectures in cloud environments (preferably AWS or Azure).
  • Hands-on experience with database technologies such as MySQL, Oracle, and Amazon Redshift.
  • Expertise in designing solutions that prioritise automation and reusability.
  • Proficiency in creating high-level and low-level technical designs, specifications, and interface control documents.
  • Knowledge of BI and analytics tools like Power BI, Pentaho, ElasticSearch, Solr, or Apache Kafka.
  • Solid experience with engineering methodologies and service management best practices.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration, with the ability to work closely with technical and non-technical teams.

Desired Skills

  • Python expertise, especially with data libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and data pipeline orchestration.
  • Exposure to data science tools like SAS or Posit.
  • Experience in performance-critical environments, particularly with large-scale data platforms.
