We are recruiting for the role ofData Architectwithin the in-house digital product and services department of a groundbreaking public sector entity that is reshaping the way public services are delivered.

The Role: Data Architect

TheData Architectwill be responsible for designing and implementing a scalable, secure, and efficient data architecture that supports the organisation’s strategic goals. This role will focus on data integration, governance, and platform design, ensuring that data systems are aligned with business needs and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will have expertise in data modeling, Master Data Management (MDM), data governance, and cloud-based architectures, ensuring data consistency, accessibility, and security across the organisation.

Responsibilities

Strategic:

  • Lead the design and implementation of a modern data architecture, ensuring scalability, flexibility, and efficiency.
  • Define and manage data integration strategies, enabling seamless flow and access to critical business information.
  • Drive data governance and security policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory and best-practice standards.

Operational:

  • Develop and maintain data models, ensuring structured and unstructured data is optimised for performance and accessibility.
  • Implement Master Data Management (MDM) strategies, ensuring data consistency across systems.
  • Architect cloud-based data platforms using Azure or AWS, optimising performance, security, and scalability.
  • Work closely with product teams, analysts, and engineers to ensure data solutions meet operational and business requirements.
  • Maintain clear documentation of data architecture, governance policies, and integration processes.

Leadership:

  • Act as a subject matter expert, advising on best practices in data strategy, governance, and architecture.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, sharing best practices in data modeling and system design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders, to ensure alignment across the organisation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, with a strong track record in designing and implementing scalable and secure data architectures.
  • Expertise in data modeling, data integration, and data strategy development.
  • Strong knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) and data governance best practices.
  • Proficiency in cloud-based architectures using Azure or AWS.
  • Understanding of data security, privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR), and compliance standards.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging both technical and business teams.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with ETL processes and tools for data integration.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse architecture and technologies.
  • Knowledge of public sector data challenges and working in complex organisations.
