We are working closely alongside a Local Authority inWestminster to assist with the appointment of a Data Architect, on a3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £418.00 - £575.21 per day

Summary:

Westminster City Council is seeking an experienced and innovativeData Architectto support the transformation of itsTown Planningdepartment under the Planning Horizons workstream. This role is central to modernising data architecture through reverse engineering existing systems and designing a future-focused framework that aligns with organisational strategy. You will work closely with the Strategic Planning Lead, planning staff, and technical teams to define, document, and improve data structures and flows.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct an in-depth analysis of the Town Planning departments existing data landscape and workflows.
  • Reverse engineer the As-Is physical data model of the IDOX Uniform system.
  • Design the To-Be conceptual and physical data models to support improved business processes.
  • Create a detailed data dictionary and data catalogue to document key data entities, definitions, and standards.
  • Identify and map data integration points, data flows, and data lineage across internal and external systems.

Requirements:

  • Certifications in data architecture or systems design are advantageous.
  • Proven experience in data modelling techniques, such as dimensional modelling and data vault architecture.
  • Strong understanding of data integration, system interoperability, and ETL processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to align data architecture with business processes and strategic goals.
  • Experience in business process mapping and documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement abilities with experience working in hybrid teams.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently.
