We are looking for aData Analyst /Data Scientistto join our Service data analytics team who support the submarines enterprise by using in-service data to gain insights through data analytics and software implementation.

As the Data Analyst you will have the opportunity to learn about how Rolls-Royce Submarines supports the Royal Navy submarine fleet, work with a range of stakeholders with different expertise, understand their challenges and support the development team to deliver valuable solutions.

Our submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. You can find out more about the amazing projects that we are working on here:-

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

As the Data Analyst you will get a chance to:

Collaborate with teams from around the business to understand problems and gather requirements for modelling and analysis. Proactively identify trends and opportunities from the data and create visualisations and reports to inform decisions making. Work with engineers to support emergent and high priority initiatives with data analytics. Demonstrate your strong creative drive and understanding of what is required from an analytic to engage and excite a user community.

To be successful in this role you should have:

An ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems. A proven ability to apply pre-processing techniques, statistical analysis, linear regression, and time-series analysis to industrial data. Preferable experience in Python Ability to visualise data appropriately and in a concise manner utilising a range of technologies. Familiarity with data manipulation libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy) and machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn). Knowledge of standard software development process, good coding practice and change control technologies (e.g., Git, Azure pipelines). Good time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities. A high-level of written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. A proactive, persistent and customer focused mindset with a high level of self-motivation, initiative, and ability to be independent.
