Founded in 1999 by Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh, Speciality Drinks / The Whisky Exchange is a fast-growing and world-renowned international spirits company. It was one of the first multi-channel, multi-market global drinks distributors and is a leader in its field. The opportunity

We're looking for a talented Data Analyst to join our team at The Whisky Exchange and Speciality Drinks Ltd and strengthen our analytics capabilities. Data is at the heart of our business, and in this role, you'll be responsible for extracting actionable insights across a range of metrics and data sources to help us quickly identify and respond to new opportunities and challenges.

As our Data Analyst, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing our data analytics strategy. You'll take ownership of key research projects and deep dives into business performance, delivering insights that influence decision-making. Leveraging your strong business acumen and technical expertise (such as proficiency in Python, R, or SQL and experience building dashboards in Tableau or Power BI) you'll collaborate closely with stakeholders, presenting compelling findings to drive business growth.

In addition to managing large data sets, you'll also support the production of business reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity in data delivery.

The role is hybrid with 3 days at our head office in Park Royal, NW10.

Your unique contribution

  • Data analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis across diverse data sets including sales performance, stock levels, customer profiles, competitor pricing, Google Analytics traffic, keyword search data, and more. Identify trends, anomalies, and patterns to generate insights that drive informed business decisions.
  • Insights Presentation and visualisation: Insights Presentation and Visualisation: Connect data from multiple sources to uncover key drivers of business performance. Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that support strategic planning. Develop and deliver compelling presentations, leveraging data visualisations to create impactful narratives and enhance understanding. Assist with the monthly leadership presentation into business performance and post event analysis.
  • Advanced Analytics: Apply advanced analytics techniques, including predictive and prescriptive modelling, to enable data-driven decision-making. Proficiency in analytics languages such as Python or R is highly desirable. Familiarity with data warehousing and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS or Azure) would be an advantage.
  • Project Ownership: Manage end-to-end delivery of research projects from data collection and analysis to the presentation of insights. Collaborate closely with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, incorporating feedback and ensuring outputs align with business requirements.
  • Business Reporting: Support the preparation of financial and business reports, providing insights into key performance metrics. Work alongside the Business Intelligence Analyst to develop and maintain dashboards that monitor performance indicators and track progress against goals.
  • On Trade Tender and Pricing: Support and, over time, take ownership of the tender and pricing process within the On-Trade business. This involves balancing the need to secure new business opportunities while maintaining profitability. Additionally, analyse the outcomes and effectiveness of tenders, providing insights to refine strategies and optimise future performance.

Your blend of talent

Ideally, you will have:

  • Demonstrated data analysis experience with a track record of performing advanced data analysis, showcasing ability to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets
  • Proficiency with Excel, and experience using tools such as Tableau, Python, R or SQL, and basic statistical methods is desirable
  • Exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management, with the capability to confidently present findings to senior leaders within the organisation and connect findings to the company's strategic direction
  • The ability to summarise critical insights and utilise compelling visualisations to convey key messages
  • The ability to maintain impeccable standards of quality in all aspects of the work, ensuring accuracy and precision in data analysis and reporting
  • The ability to act as a business partner and collaborate effectively with various departments, fostering productive relationships and leveraging data to support their objectives
  • A proactive approach (essential), taking ownership of projects, going above and beyond when analysing data, anticipating stakeholder needs, and displaying a deep curiosity about the business model
  • A familiarity with finance reporting, particularly P&L statements would be beneficial, as well as understanding financial metrics and their impact on business performance
